Greenberry Cloud and his second wife Mary M lived in Washington twp., Boone Co., AR in 1880, with their children Houston, Malinda, and Cordelia. What might not be so widely known is that Greenberry's son Burrell was also living in Boone Co., though in Washington twp., and name misspelled as BURL CLAUD. He and his wife Sarah Samantha GOFF CLOUD had three children Mary Anne, Caroline, and William W. Both families lived at various other times in Taney and Stone Counties in MO. Took me forever to find them, it was a perfect moment of exact search terms and Soundex! Janet

Right now I have it linked to A.J. Cloud, the son of Jeremiah and Elizabeth
Sanford Cloud. (This is the line of our cousin Cheslee Inselmann.)

My notes say that A.J. was married to Nellie, not Mattie ??
I believe the card may actually belong to:

This is Andrew Jackson Cloud, son of unknown Cloud who died bef. 1900 and
Sarah E. Cloud, b. 1866 in TX.
One reason for thinking this is the clipped off card at the bottom for
Charlie Fowler Cloud, 23. The clipped off card is from an earlier registration
date, 1817, so Charlie was probably born about 1894, and A.J.'s brother Charlie
was born in December of 1894. (Charlie may not be related to A.J. ... just
wondering.)
any suggestions ?
This was stuff I found when I was looking for Charlie...as you notice family
146 and 147..hard to think that they are not related.
1910 Census, Comanche Cty, TX, 26 Apr, family 146, p. 16
Mrs S. E. Cloud, 44, widow, TX, TX, TX, wash lady
Charlie, son, 16, TX, TX, TX, day laborer in town

Andrew J.Cloud, 28, TX, TX, TX, married 1 yr, day laborer in town

There are 3 Cloud families listed in the 1930 census for Comanche Cty, TX.
There were no Clouds, Claud or Claude. Unable to place any of these families
in Comanche Cty in 1920.
Daniel Cloud, born TX abt 1887

Nute Cloud, born TX abt 1896

I have looked at hundreds of Laura's, Amanda's, Mandie's, Manda's...parents
born a combo of Kentucky and MO. I checked 1910 census..shows father born
MO, mom born KY. She's listed as Manda M. Smith in the 1910 census.
Anyway,,no luck finding a Laura and an Amanda in the same household.

I am the great granddaughter of Leander(Lee) and Elizabeth (Betty) Cloud of Dade county. My grandfather was James Franklin Cloud, son of Lee & Betty. There are several cousins in looking for Lee's heritage. There are also several theories about that history.
Would love to know if you are one of those cousins.

Tom,
Your suggestion is an interesting one, and I'd like to discuss it a bit
further in this open forum -- certainly not representing anyone but myself.
I'm trying to picture what you have in mind here. CFA can certainly post
the front pages and tables of contents of Cloud Family Journal issues on
the CFA web sites if you (or anyone) thinks that will be of value.
That's one way to give newcomers a quick overview of what CFA publishes,
but not really a feel for the quality of the content. Probably the best
representation of the scope of Cloud data available is the CFJ CD
containing 25 years of Journals with thousands of pages of data. It's
all indexed for easy searching. I tend to think that anyone with a
serious interest in Cloud history should want to join CFA and buy one
of these.
Newcomers to Cloud research will surely visit a major library at some
time and that is a good opportunity to get better acquainted with CFA.
CFA sends complimentary copies of the Journal to 50 major libraries
across the nation for reference by researchers. This represents dues at
work to disseminate Cloud information as stated in the association's
objectives. Thus, a good part of dues is really a contribution to this
objective; nobody gets paid for Journal work or any other work.
I have occasionally sent my copy of the Journal to a cousin, but postage
has gotten too expensive to regularly send the 4 oz. Journal
individually. (Members get their copies at the lower "bulk" rate.)
I think I hear someone say: "Why don't they make the Cloud Family
Journal available on-line to everyone?" Would that induce any Cloud
researchers who are not CFA members to join, or would it tempt current
members to drop membership and go for a free ride? An alternative might
be to make it available with controlled access.
I guess the CFA Board members really need to know what it would take to
induce non-member Cloud researchers to join. Anyone care to answer that?

Also noted in Atlanta Journal Constitution, Sunday, June 10th in an article
by Ken Thomas of the GA Genealogic Society, the NARA-SE Region Archives in
Morrow has added the WW II Enlistment Records (1938-1946) for 15 states.
That is about one-third of those registered.

I fairly often get a scent and chase off on another hunt for Cloud family.
Many times I either resolve that hunt by finding and calling a living

It seems to me it would be a good idea if the CFA made available either

we could send to Cloud cousins we discover. That would be a good way, IMO,
to encourage them to join the CFA.

With the help of our cousins Lura Black and Mary Lou Freeman, I've compiled 127 draft cards of either Clouds or folks collateral to the Cloud family.
I need help with:
1 - adding the cards of others
2 - transcribing the data
3 - tying the card to the person in the mykindred.com database

The recent exchange Lura and I've been having about Marion Burford Cloud came about because I'd downloaded a card that had the top portion of Marion's included. We've been unable to find the complete card for Marion, but we have been fairly successful in finding his family.
The cards I originally downloaded in April of 2005 I believe were from the rootsweb collection, now under ancestry. All I downloaded were Texas Clouds, as I was primarily interested in finding my Jeremiah cousins. Since then I've expanded my scope to include all the Clouds because I believe that is the only way we're going to be able to break down the ancestral dead ends many of us have.
If you can take a few minutes -- please browse through the cards and enter whatever you think helpful at the bottom in the "Viewer Remarks" section. If you know who the person is descended from (or if you know the URL for the person in the mykindred.com website), please enter that information there.
thanks,
Tom Cloud

I was working on this when I got your email...After I sent all of that..I
kept looking. I didn't know Willie O, tied into this family...I figured I
would get to him next. I couldn't see th einitials of the good DR...they were
covered over by some writing.
One more possible piece of information. I went looking for a Cloud in the
1880 census...born in Alabama, father born NC, mother born AL in 1866 + - 1
year. I was looking for the Dr, that might be Marion's father. Of course, I
realize at the age of 13 he will not yet be a doctor. One possibility came up
with my query
William Cloud, nephew, age 13..and it happened to be Alabama
Pineville, Monroe Cty, AL, taken 7 Jun, P. 408, family #6
Hannah Kile, f, 52, AL, GA, SC
Comfort Graham, f, 72, SC, NC, NC
Marg/Mary Cloud, sister, 49, AL, GA, SC, teaching school
William Graham, brother, 42, AL, GA, SC, farming
Kile Cloud, nephew, 25, AL, NC, AL, farming
Jesup Cloud, nephew, 18, AL, NC, AL
Comfort Helton (?), niece, 16, AL, AL, AL
William Cloud, nephew, 13, AL, NC, AL
Eugenia Helton, niece, 13, AL, AL, AL
Serena Helton, niece, 7, AL, AL, AL
Oscar Graham, nephew, 8, MS, AL, MS
Once I found this I went looking in the 1870 census. I was looking here
when your email came...William is a year older than I think he should be...but
it is the only one in Alabama
Dinnards Bluff, Monroe Cty, AL, taken 12 Jun, family 42
JEREMIAH Cloud, 62, NC, farmer

I have searched the 1910 census, upside down and backwards. Could not find
this family. I did find a possibility in the 1900 census:
Burleson Cty, TX, p. 151, taken 20 Jun
Dr. W. V. D. Cloud, 37, b: Oct 1866, born: AL, father born: NC, mother
born:
AL, Pract Physician
Keturah, wife, 24, b: Feb 1876, TX, AL, TX
Marion B., son, 7, b: Jan 1893, TX, AL, TX
Harrie B., son, 5, b: Feb 1895, TX, AL, TX
Charles Clark, black, lodger, 11, 1884, TX, KY, TX
I stumbled onto this family looking a Harrie B. I spotted his brother and
interpreted it as Marion B. I looked ant Ancestry.com and see they
transcribed it as Mariam E which is why I didn't find it before. I
strongly believe I
am right and they are wrong.
I couldn't find this family in 1910 either. If you look at the 1920 and
1930
census (assuming it is right...which in a lot of cases is a stretch) one
can
infer that Marion was born between 8 Jan and 28 Apr...thus why in the 1920
census he is 26 and 1930 he is 37. That would put this Marion B in the
ballpark.
SSDI makes this Marion B look even better...
Marion Cloud, born 12 Jan 1893, d: Apr 1967, last residence Boling, Wharton
Cty, TX, 77420, SSN: 461-28-6959, issued TX.
Points of interest:
1900 census shows "A" Marion B born in Jan 1893
1930 census shows "A" Marion B polled in Boling, Wharton Cty, TX.

Lura,
did you look at the 1900 census? It clearly reads Cloud, W.O. Dr. ... not W.V. Cloud, so this is surely the same person as I found in 1920 and 1930. Now my question is about Keturah and Daisey, his wife/wives .... did Keturah die or leave and he remarried Daisey? ....
The very difficult thing now will be to figure out what family Willie O. Cloud belongs to in Alabama in 1870, 1880 (he married Keturah in 1890 ... but he must have attended medical school some time also ... he was a Dr. by 1900, when he was 24, so he must have been gone from home to college and med school by 1890 or before.

Lura,
I didn't post all that I knew .... my other post for Dr. Willie O. Cloud seems to tie into this that you've found. This came about as I was going through WW-I draft registrations. Marion Burford Cloud is the one that has only the top inch or so showing, but it had his age and I guessed at the date of the card based on the card it was with. He was in Wharton county and I found Dr. Willie O. Cloud while searching for him.
Below is what I know -- not counting addresses and phone numbers, none of which have answered at this point (note that I agree with your conclusion that Dr. Willie Cloud is Marion's father)
1-Dr. Willie O. Cloud M.D.
