Tom, have just read your latest information about out DNA project -- clicked
on 33774 for Gary Wayne Cloud -- in the sequence of that family on group
sheet 28967 for Joseph Glynn Cloud -- it is indicated that child number 1, a
male, is still living. This is not correct. Child #1 was the twin of #2 and
neither are living. Child #1 was Jay Glynn Cloud, b. July 16, 1935 in Temple,
Tx. He died May 31, 1988 in San Antonio,following a heart/lung transplant.
I don't suppose this is too important in the grand scheme of things but
just writing to add this. I am positive of this information. Joseph Glynn
Cloud was my mother's brother and we were closely associated. Olive Ruth Nabors

Do you have any dates? I have Clouds and Poters in my line. Cloud on my fathers side and Porter on my mothers side.
The Cloud DNA Project is moving along -- not fast enough
for most of us though, because we want ANSWERS, and we
want them NOW! It's kind of like fishing and getting
the occasional nibble, but no real good yank on the line.
We know there are fish in there -- and we want to catch
one right now!
Several of us have been working hard to figure out a
way to make the results easier to understand ... with
limited success.
Here is a quick summary (from my viewpoint):
1 - We feel we have had good results from the project so far.
2 - The web pages for the project are up -- but we want better!
3 - We need more participants.
====
====
====
====
1 - Results:
I am watching my line the most -- and I believe we can say
now with certainty that we are descended from the same line
as that of kits 43203 and 38208 -- implying that our line
probably converges with William Cloud (I52225) who married
Elizabeth Ann Hayes, and perhaps even with his son William
(I52423) who married Alice Hardin.
This is much more than we have ever had before, and it means
we (my cousins from our Jeremiah line) can narrow our search
to this line rather than striking in all directions. This is
a marvelous breakthrough for us, even though it still doesn't
tell us who the parents of our Jeremiah were.
====
====
====
====
2 - Web Pages for the project:
http://mykindred.com/cloud/dna/
Results - http://mykindred.com/cloud/dna/results/cdnareport.php
- Each person in the project has a kit number.
- The pedigree for that person can be seen by clicking on the
kit number in the box at the bottom of the page.
- A crude and simple comparison between test results can be
seen by clicking on a kit number in the left column of the
results table.
How to print the chart
- http://mykindred.com/cloud/dna/results/cdnaprint.htm
Help - http://mykindred.com/cloud/dna/results/cdnahelp.htm
Here is a new page -- I don't know how to best fit it into
the project data or maybe just remove it ... any suggestions
appreciated. It is a chart showing the pedigrees of each
participant ... and is not linked from any other page at
this time:
http://mykindred.com/cloud/dna/Pedigrees3.htm
====
====
====
====
3 - We need more participants.
DNA testing provides "relative" results (pun intended).
It's like having one person point at something. Few people
pay attention. But if many people are pointing at it, it
catches everyone's attention.
That may not be a good analogy. The more participants we
have from the various branches, the better able we are to
narrow the scope of our search.
So -- if you can participate, please do. If you know someone
who can participate, try to persuade them to join the project.
If you will send me an address for anyone who doesn't get
these emails or who doesn't get the CFA Journal, I will
personally put together some information and mail it to them.

The newspaper article says Sam C. Slack was a nephew of Daniel,
apparently making him a son of John W. Slack, who married Daniel's

I suggest that you visit your local library and look in W. W. Hinshaw's
"Enclyopedia of American Quaker Genealogy" to determine if your Joseph
Watkins was a Quaker.
Joseph Watkins filed suit against William Cloud in Pittsylvania County, VA
in 1772. Suit was dismissed by the court.
A power of attorney was issued from William Atwood & Sarah Atwood to
Absalom Watkins in the Stokes County, NC County Court of Pleas & Quarter
Sessions on Dec. 3, 1792.
A deed of conveyance from George Watkins to William Chandler was proved in
Stokes County Court in Dec., 1790.
Henry Watkins was ordered to serve on a Stokes County jury in June, 1793.
This is all I have on the Watkins family.

William Cloud was the son of Robert Cloud and Joan Norys of Wiltshire,
England. He purchased land in 1682 from William Penn in what is now Chester

year, bringing his family with him.
Dear Tom,
Thought you might want to know that ship records indicate a slightly
different arrival scenario for your family bio blip. According to ship records,
Joseph Cloud (son of Wm. & Susan) came to PA a year before his father and
brothers. Joseph arrived in Upland, (later renamed Chester) on the Bristol Factor
on 12/15/1861. He was listed as a servant to John Bezer from Bishops
Canning, Wiltshire, who also was traveling on the Bristol Factor, as were Bezer's
wife, Susanna, and children, John, Richard, Susanna, Elizabeth, and Frances.
[William Penn arrived on The Welcome (with quite a few other folks) in
August 1682.]
William Cloude and sons William, Jeremaih [sic on source document], and
Robert arrived on The Unicorne in December 1682.
Karen
Tom,
Don't keep your bride waiting for that quiet time you promised for the
weekend. One suggestion concerning the biographies. Ask the person
submitting the Bio to include footnotes giving sources for statements of
fact.

Ken,
Are you aware that Lyle and Sherrill Cloud fit your mold of families who
migrated west into Ohio, Indiana, Illinois? I hope that Lyle and
Sherrill's brother will take part in the Cloud DNA project. If you hear
from other Clouds descended from ancestors moving due west out of PA and
DE, encourage them to take the DNA test.
