Hi Laura,
At last I will get to meet you. Will Joe be with you? It would be nice if
you could be present for the entire event but I understand the limitations
of your travel schedule. Friday evening, the 16th or Saturday, the 17th
would be your best bet. We will be on a bus tour most of Sunday. If you
want to just attend the meetings, the registration cost will be $10. If
you come on Saturday and want to join the group for the luncheon, the cost
will be $35. The "Corporate Business Meeting" will be held Saturday
morning from 8:30 a.m. until 11.30 a.m.
I'm sorry to hear that your parents are not able to travel. Jan will be
happy to compare notes with you again. She is coming in early to
"de-cloud" the Historical Center files.
Have a safe trip.

Thanks, but I have seen so many from Internet would give me a peace
of mind to prove it !!! I was chasing Little Isaac Pirkle, gr son
of Isaac Cantrell & Talitha Cloud thinking it would offer clues.,Little
Isaac 'mother died when he was very small and he was named in Old
Isaac Cantrell Will. I don't even copy anymore if I can't prove it.
Oh well, I have been chasing them for over 20 yrs. Maybe will get lucky
one day. R B
Hi, I found an old family tree for Talitha. Here is what it says. Talitha,
born 1729 in New Castle and died 1772 in Rockingham Co. NC, daughter of
Jeremiah and Ann bailey. She married Isaac Cantrell who may have been a
Baptist minister. A note says she was of the Quaker faith and was disowned
for marrying Isaac. No further on that. They had 12 children, born in
Delaware, North and South Carolina. The line goes in this tree like this:
Talitha
Father Jeremiah
Gfather Jeremiah
GGfather William
GGGfather Robert
I have worked with the Cloud line as my wife's maiden name was Cloud from
Delaware, SC, Florida. My wife was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and I
have her line through Robert. As I said, I found this online in a Cloud
family tree and with what I already had, I would think it is pretty close. I
have my wife's lineage all the way back to 1502. I have the names of the 12
Cantrell children if you would like to have them. Anyway, Jeremiah was
apparently the son of Jeremiah Cloud and Elizabeth Bailey.

This is a reminder of the Cloud family gathering to be held at the Airport
Hilton, Knoxville, TN the weekend of July 16 - 18, 2004. This national
meeting of members of numerous branches of Cloud families represents the
greatest concentration of knowledge of Cloud history and genealogy to be
found anywhere. Excellent speakers have been lined up for this gathering.
They include the Cloud family historian, Jan Cloud; professional
genealogist, Dr. George Schweitzer; Associate Director, The East Tennessee
Historical Society, Cherel Henderson; and humorist Jim Claborn. A tour of
historical sites associated with TN pioneer Cloud families is included in
the program. There will be ample opportunity to exchange genealogy
documents and engage in group searches for cracks in the "brick walls."
Reservations are required and should be made by the first week in July.

I am looking for information about Pauline Cloud, b. about 1920, in Michigan. Pauline may have been born in Kalamazoo County. I do not have information about marriages, however, Pauline did have at least one child in the mid 1940s with Thomas Campell, b. Scotland. These children were born in Detroit, Michigan. Thomas worked for "Dodge," and may have been married to another woman at the time. Two of Pauline's daughters were adopted out in the mid to late 1940s in the area of Detroit, MI.
Any leads or information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Hi Barbara:
Thanks for your message that I have copied below. The pricing varies somewhat
with the company you choose to do the DNA work. You can use Goggle to bring
them up on the Internet.
Apparently, the Family Tree DNA organization has a lead in DNA genealogical
database development. They have a higher pricing for individual family lines
that have not yet qualified for a group rate (6 or more persons from same family
name for group rate). But they give a significant discount rate for groups.
This is the reason I am trying to find six CLOUD's to start a DNA analysis
group.
I think I mentioned in an earlier message, that the base group rate is
$100.00 for a 12 marker analysis and $169.00 for a 25 marker analysis. The maximum
is 37 markers and I do not recall the rate off hand. The more markers, the
further you can go back in matching a family line. There are also other types of
related genealogical data that costs more, much more.
You will also need to have a male member of your family line take the test,
since females do not carry the y-DNA markers.
Hope this helps answer the question you raised.
Please let me know if you decide to have a male member of you Cloud line take
the DNA test.

That is the price for one individual to get the 25 marker test. And I sure
would like to see on of you Indiana Clouds take the test because I think my
Alabama Cloud line comes from the same ancestor. Ray Shirley

Hi Ken Cloud:
Thanks very much for letting me know that you would possibly be interested in
participating in establishing a CLOUD line DNA group.
The bottom price group rate is about $100 for a 12 marker analysis from the
Family Tree DNA organization. The more markers one pays for, increases the
possibilities of a match further back in one's family line.
As I recall, the minimum number of markers that are available is 12 and
costs $100.00 at the group rate. I think the maximum number of markers available
is 37. The group rate for a 25 marker analysis is $169.00; and that is what I
choose for my KING family DNA Analysis.
Yes, Ken, the tests are somewhat expensive; but if enough persons participate
in the DNA tests, we can prove without a doubt, that most CLOUD lines are
related to William CLOUD that migrated to the USA from England to the Wm. Penn
Colony during the early 1700's. We might be able to go even further back in time
with the DNA results.
We would only need four more CLOUD line males to sign up to secure group rate
pricing for DNA testing from the Family Tree DNA organization. Hopefully, we
can find a few more CLOUD descendants that might be interested in the DNA
testing; and perhaps one of them would be willing to be the group administrator. I
would not have the time available to serve as such; due to my wife's health
situation and my age related health problems.
Ideally, we should try to get someone from each major CLOUD group that
migrated south or west from PA. For example, descendants that went south and west to
AL, SC, TN, GA, MS, and TX; plus a central group or two that migrated
westward to Ohio, Indiana, Colorado, CA and Oregon. Maybe one from the New England
area where I found a line of Cloud's while researching our CLOUD line. I am from
the SC and AL line.
I hope to be able to attend the upcoming July Cloud Family Gathering in
Knoxville, TN. Maybe we can find someone in attendance that would like to use DNA
testing to help extend his or her ancestral CLOUD line, or to confirm what has
already been discovered, or to determine if they were adopted somewhere along
the line; or have other ancestral background like Jewish, American Indian or
African heritage.
I am repeating your message below so others who didn't read it initially, may
have a second opportunity to do so now.
Thanks again. Tom King, Sr. Sterling, VA.

Yep looks correct. (I am not the best speller lol) See my parents in there lol
There is one Thomas Cloud born about 1872 in Indiana in the 1880 census. The
information is as follows:
Jefferson, Tipton, IN, page 26, taken the 14th of June
John Cloud, age 38, b: IN, parents b: IN
Malinda, wife, age 36: b: IN, parents b: Unknown
Louis A, son, age 9, b: IN
Thomas C., son, age 8, b: IN
Ditton or Dillon M., son, age 6, diptheria, b:IN
Lilly, daughter, age 4, b: IN
Effie, daughter, age 2, b: IN
That's all I can do right now.
Hi...I queried 1910 census..I think I found your family in Indiana:
Prairie Twp, Warren, IN, p. 236B
Thomas Cloud, age, 37, b:IN, parents b: IN, laboreron railroad
Mary Etta, wife, age 23, b:IN, parents b: IN
Roy, son, age 5 b: IN, parents b: IN
Blanche, daughter, b: IL, parents b: IN
Gilbert, son, 11 months, b: IL, parents b: IN
Census was taken 28 April 1910...which means Gilbert was born in about May of
1909.
There was an Albert Cloud in Hoopeston, Vermilion, IL...but his parents were
born in WV...otherwise, thought he might be a brother to your Thomas.
Good luck in search.
