I had some luck and found out there are errors in my previous post. Blanche May Cloud's mother's name was Ettie Beam, not Sarah. They lived in Hoopeston, IL. Blanche was probably born there, or somewhere nearby. Her siblings were Zanard, Opal, Donald, Gilbert, and Roy. Still don't know where the parents, Thomas & Ettie came from or what their parents names were. Any info would be appreciated.
I corrected one other link on the DNA page at mykindred.com.
It's at the bottom and lists DNA surname projects registered
with rootsweb.

I looked at the SHIRLEY surname DNA project and, as with all of their
web site, it is extremely well done -- I am envious and wish I had the
talent to do our pages as well as they have theirs.
WRT links regarding DNA, I put together some links long ago when
I first suggested the CLOUD list participate. I've just verified
and corrected those links. They can be found at:

So sorry Tom about your wife. My husband Chuck has Alzheimer disease also.
Our son lives in Knoxville , but we will not make the trip either. It is
better to keep them in their comfort zone so they do not become confused.

Has anyone come across this name? Believe she was born in Indiana. Her birthdate was 18 Aug 1907. Father Thomas Cloud. Mother may have been named Sarah. Siblings: Ronald, Opal, Maynard, plus. Don't know what town she was born in. Blanche married Hobart Jones. I believe his family was from Indiana & Kentucky. Trying to find the correct names of the parents and the location of Blanche's birth. Would be interested in any information at all.

Hi Folks:
Thanks for your responses to my earlier request for information regarding
Genealogical DNA testing. Sorry, I don't have time available to write each of you
a personal "thank you note." Taking care of my ailing wife uses up most of my
days and parts of my nights. She also doesn't like for me to work on my
computer.
However, I found some information on the Internet regarding Genealogical DNA
testing that may be of interest to other users of this bulletin board. The
Internet address information is printed below:
http://www.ftdna.com/description.html#YDNA25 - List of the various types of
Genealogical DNA testing that are available from one of the DNA testing
organizations. Some of the tests are very complex. But they can determine if you
have American Indian, or African or Jewish ancestors in your family tree; as well
as recent and distant relatives; depending on how much you wish to spend for
their services. The more complex tests are much more expensive than the
basic genealogical tests. See the Internet address below for cost data.
http://www.ftdna.com/products.html - List of different types of DNA tests and
related costs offered by the DNA organization. Information that I have
received from past DNA users, indicates that recognized family genealogical
associations may receive discount pricing.

Hi Raymond:
Thanks for your comments on the subject matter. Other comments on the subject
have also been quite positive. I hope you don't mind me posting your reply on
the Cloud Family Association board so that others may know more about this
important research tool.
I hope to be able to attend the CFA meeting in July. However, it depends on
my wife's health, which has been slowly getting worse during the past five
years. She has Alzheimer's, is legally blind, can't hear too well and has other
ailments from time to time.

Hi Tom:
I have had my Shirley family DNA tested by the Houston group and I am quite
pleased with the results. I had the 25 marker test. It was done through my
Shirley family association. The benefit from the test increases
exponentially with an increase in the number of male Cloud family members
from different branches who will agree to take the test.
You can get an idea of how the DNA tests can help in identifying ancestors
by logging on to <http://www.shirleyassociation.com>
Click on the DNA link and follow the links. I am sample No. 8579.
I hope to see you in July for the CFG2004.

Can anyone give us any proof that Talitha was the daughter of Jeremiah Cloud and Elizabeth Bailey? This relationship began a number of years ago and has grown by leaps and bounds, but so far no one can give us any proof. Would accept it in a minute if it can be proven. Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Folks:
I am somewhat interested in submitting my DNA to a lab that is doing
genealogical matching. I have read feedback submitted to the Family Tree DNA
organization in Houston, TX, at http://www.ftdna.com/testimonials_home.html .
Their postings sound great. However, before deciding to undergo the testing,
I would like to hear from others that may have used their services, or like
services from other Genealogical DNA analysis organizations.
Please send your comments to: tomkingsr(a)aol.com
Thanks very much.
