This is an attempt on the part of the administrator to ferret out
a bug in the email list -- no one sees it but me, but it needs to
be fixed. This does not involve anyone on this list except Bruce
-- he knows who he is.
.... everyone else -- just delete this!
Bruce, are you receiving this ? (you can write me back off-list if
you wish) I'm still trying to resolve the intersurf.com dilemma.

Marti, It appears we are family. You are close in age to my own children. My father Leroy did indeed have a cousin Bill marired to Flossie. They had a son we called Jimmy. Was your grandfather Bill also not a cabinet maker? Didn't your grandfather and father both die of cancer. As far as I can remember ALL the Cloud familiy members have died from Cancer starting with my great grandfather Cloud. Bill did have a sister named Helma. I remember her name. My grandfather Louis Nelson Cloud had a brother named Clarence, sisters Rosie, I can't recall the others at this time. Nelson and Francis went with my parents Leroy and Lauretta when they ran away and married in Sept. 1936 and were their witnesses. I will send you an email at your address this evening when I will have more time. Glad to find family. Barbara

Yes this does sound familiar. I am 30 years old so I was about 10 or 12 when we went to see Nelson. From what I can tell you, my father, Jim or James Cloud, was a carpenter by trade but worked in Indian Head Naval Base as a rigger in Maryland. We lived in Bryans Road MD then moved to Port Tobacco MD when they both passed away. I dont remember Nelson coming to visit us much when we lived in Port Tobacco, but I do remember spending the summers in VA with him and Aunt francis. They had an extra attic room and a huge back yard (or to a little girl it was big) I got most of my information from Harley Cloud and Genology.com.
Some of my history that I can remember and have gotten from Harley is of course my father James, grandfather WIlliam Ashby married to Flossie Byrd, Great grandfather I believe to be Turner Ashby, but I cant remember who he married. I know my father had a sister Urcela Mae (spelling) that lives in Culpeper VA and Helma Walker & son George. Im not sure if she was his sister or not, but they also lived in MD. Good to meet Barbara and dont sweat the computer, Itll come to you !

My father was known in family as Leroy. He also had a cousin named Nelson married to Francis. Where in Va. did your dad have his shop? My father's cousin Bill made the kitchen cabinets for home dad purchased in Herndon, Va. about 1954. Nelson lived in Arlington, Va. I believe their father was Clarence and mother Mary. Clarence and Mary also had twins Leon and Lois. Does any of this sound familiar. I was born in Wash. D.C. in 1938. Barbara

On 8/21/1999, I visited the grave. She is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Harrison, Harrison twp, Hamilton Co, OH. I found it interesting that her headstone clearly read Molinda rather than Malinda. She was the wife of Nicholas Johnson. She died March 19, 1851 at age 48 years 2 months 14 days. I believe she actually died in Dearborn Co, IN. (The IN/OH border runs through Harrison.)
Nicholas Johnson is also buried there. He died May 27, 1864 at age 72, 2, 7.
