We may have two different Cloud families. I have Martha married to a Nelson Mealer in the 1860 McDonald County Missouri cenus. This is confirmed by names in the Mealer
Bible. She was born in 1833, she married Nelson in 1858.
What year do you have her married to Nathan Thompson? Nelson remarried in 1865, we assumed she had died....???
Thanks for answering my post.

Hello, this Martha Cloud married our Nathan Thompson in TN. I have Sarah on the MO. census below Nathan's family.
We have her Father as Abner but do not have a Mothers name.
Some of the papers out of TN on a land document there is a John Cloud ,he and Nathan Thompson signed.
Any help on this family would be appreciated.
I have some on the Thompson's but not the Clouds.
Thank you,Lila
There is more than one Cloud Cove area associated with the Cloud Family name.
But I think the one you are looking for is in Madison County, Alabama; since
Jeremiah Huddleston Cloud spent some of his early manhood years in that
county and the adjacent Limestone County, AL.
The records that I found while researching Jeremiah Huddleston Cloud a number
of years ago, disclosed that he had been arrested for fighting and also
purchased some property in the Cloud Cove area of Madison County, AL (near
New Hope, AL); during the early 1800's. He later returned to TN, I think it
was in the Knoxville, TN area that he settled in and raised a family. It
seems like one of his son's, who was an MD, married in Madison Co. AL;
however, I am not certain on that bit of information.
I just checked my database and found that I had a little more information on
J. H. Cloud than I recalled off hand. He was apparently married twice. His
father was apparently Jason Cloud, Jr., born about 1730 in Chester Co., PA.
His mother is just listed as Elizabeth --------, born in NC. The source of my
information is listed below.
I also have some data on his son Joseph Franklin Cloud, MD. Joseph was born
about 1806 in NC. Married Maria Jane Vaughn about 1831 and died about 1862.
He was buried in Mt. Pleasant, Marshall Co. MS. His wife was born about 1810
and died in 1878 in Tuscumbia, Colbert Co. AL. They had 8 children and I have
some data on them.
Here is the source of much of my data on this family line:
--------
BIRTH, MARRIAGE & DEATH: SEE "CLOUD FAMILY" BY EMMA E. BRIGHAM, SPRINGFIELD,
MA. 1961; ADDITIONAL DATA SUPPLIED BY MR. THOMAS D. HAMM, P.O. BOX 154,
SPICELAND, IN. 47385. (FEB 1989.)
Birth, Marriage & Death: See page 436 of book titled Northern Alabama
Historical and Biographical, by Smith & De Land, Birmingham, AL. 1888. Copy
available at the Family History Library, Salt Lake City, UT.
Note: See the 1860 U.S. Census for Mt. Pleasant, Marshall Co., MS., #88-89.
---------
Since my genealogical search indicated that J. H. Cloud was not the ancestor
that I was looking for, I didn't follow his record beyond Madison Co., AL;
except as shown above. But if you need copies of the data mentioned in this
email, let me know your name and snail mailing address and I will see if I
can find it.
It would also be nice to know if you have any evidence of a relationship
between your J. H. Cloud to my ancestor William Cloud that settled in the
Cloud Cove area of Madison Co. AL during the early 1800's; perhaps a little
after your ancestor bought property there. Maybe we should exchange GEDCOM
files on our Cloud Family lines?
Tom King, Sr.

Confirming everything you and Kenny provided, here are maps and photos from the
Cloud Family Association tour of the Cloud's Cove area in July of
2000.:http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~cloud/2000/pages/S1990.html
As it was told to me, Jeremiah Huddleston Cloud was an early resident of
Madison County (AL) in about 1805, but he did not stay here long. He moved on
to Tennessee or Mississippi. William Cloud came to the county a few years later
and acquired land in the part of the county that became known as Cloud's Cove.
His descendants own part of that land today, and that includes the land where
the Cloud Cemetary is located. Information on this William Cloud has been
published in several volumes of the Cloud Family Journal and is included in the
book (Wagons to Spaceships) by Tom King, a William Cloud descendant. As I
recall, there was no indication that the Wiliam Cloud of Cloud's Cove and
Jeremiah Huddleston Cloud were related.

Clouds Cove is located between mile 340 and 341 on the Tennessee River,
just east of Huntsville, Alabama, in Madison Co. It is between the Flint
River (mile 339) and the Paint Rock River (mile 343), both of which enter
the Tennessee River from the northeast. There is a Clouds Cove Road, a
Clouds Cove Church, and a Cloud Cemetery located there, all within 3 to 4
miles of each other. Clouds Cove is also just west of Cloud Mountain. The
"Heart of Dixie" highway, U. S. 231, crosses the Tennessee River 7 river
miles west of Clouds Cove between miles 333 and 334. Good luck, Al Cloud.

Hi Al:
I too had to change my address because of Spam mail a few weeks ago. They
have already found this name, but hope they don't flood it like the last
screen name I used.

Hi Dick:
Most of the data I have on Sarah relates to her marriage to one of my CLOUD
ancestors. I do not know her place of birth, but if I had to guess, I would
choose SC.
Sarah Hogan is a rather distant relative for me, so I have not spent time
researching the Hogan line.

I have a line in my data that roughly matches some of this, but is pretty
vague: Go to my web page
http://members.cox.net/kec/Cloudbase/cloud/aqwg126.htm#8637 and this will be
for a Gen George Harlan Cloud, his funeral write up taken from CFJ XIX-I-19
listed his linage back to a Jeremiah Ca 1782/84 - 1861, married to an
Elizabeth. In my data, though totally unconfirmed, I have a son William J,
marr to Elizabeth Jane Boyd. This is not my line, so I have nothing other
than that in my data. Maybe this can be run to ground with your research.

I was sent this .... can't say for sure that Paul Harvey wrote it,
but it sounds like him.

Paul Harvey Writes:
We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse.
For my grandchildren, I'd like better.
I'd really like for them to know about hand me down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf sandwiches.
I really would.
I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty by being cheated.
I hope you learn to make your own bed, and mow the lawn, and wash the car.
And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.
It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies born and your old dog put to sleep.
I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in, I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother. And it's all right if you have to draw a line down the middle of the room, but
when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared, I hope you let him. When you want to see a movie and your little brother wants to tag along, I hope you'll let him.
I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely.
On rainy days, when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your driver to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with someone as uncool as your Mom. If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one instead of buying one.
I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books.
When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head.
I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush on a girl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what ivory soap tastes like.
May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.
I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it.
And if a friend offers you dope or a joint, I hope you realize he is not your friend.
I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your Grandpa and go fishing with your Uncle.
May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the holidays. I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through your neighbor's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Christmas time when you give her a plaster mold of your hand. These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness. To me, it's the only way to appreciate life. We secure our friends, not by accepting favors, but by doing them.
