I have handwritten history by Grandpa Ben's Daughter's Son that says Benjamin Frank CLoud was the son of Benjamin Cloud and Elizabeth Chadwell Cloud of Clairborne County, Tenn.
But I have seen a quiry that says the parents were Greenberry Cloud and Barthena Cox. I know we are related to the Cox family. This must be how we are related.
My father remembers a few of Grandpa Ben's brothers and says that their father was from Clairborne County, Tennessee.
Happy Hunting. Cuz.

Hi,
My grandfather was Cloud Thrasher Barton, he died in 1956 at age 75. From what I understand a female member of the family had a family name of Cloud and another had the family name of Thrasher. This may not be correct. He hated his name and went by C.T. Barton. Don't know if this is the same family you are looking for.
My grandfather's family came from Farmerville, Louisiana at the start of the civil war and went to Bell County Texas. His mom's name was Rebecca Basil Barton and is buried in Bell County. He moved to El Reno and then finally settled in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He had seven Children, one my mom, Mary Barton.

I have an Elizabeth Narcissus Wall who Married Jeremiah M. Cloud. They have

Franklin, Jeremiah Ernest, Richard W., William Henderson, Elizabeth, Tate

I don't know if this is a match or not - the dates seem to be different, but
if you would like to look more closely, check my website:

DECATUR CO., GA PHILLIP CLOUD (b: c 1809) in SC
This posting Includes everything that I know about PHILLIP
CLOUD (b: c 1809) in SC. On 11 Aug 2001, I posted to
CLOUD-L my documentation for a Connection: Decatur Co.,
GA/Edgefield Co., SC. I assume that you have seen this and
I will not repeat those facts related to John Cloud (b: c
1782) and his son, Phillip Cloud (b: c 1809) in South
Carolina. Also, I have posted today to CLOUD-L a similar
summary on Mansico Cloud (b: c 1812) in SC. The summaries
are closely related and should be reviewed together for a
clearer picture of this family in Decatur Co., GA.
[Decatur Co., GA noted as DCG

census, Jerry Cloud, who was enumerated Perry, was 11 yrs
old which means he was b: c 1839. Phillip m: Sophie in DCG
20 Sep 1843, which is four years after Jerrys birth. (This
is a documented date/see DCG Marriage Book A-63). And then,
as I show below, the guardian arrangements for Jerry Cloud
are handled completely different from those of Phillips
other children, William, Mansico, and Noah through his wife,
Sophie.

During 1987-88, I corresponded with Mr. Loren D. Austin, a
Cloud researcher who was born in Bainbridge, GA and lived in
Tempe, AZ at the time. I later learned that Loren d: 07 May
1991 and is buried at the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery
near Bainbridge, GA. He told me, in one of his letters that
he descended from Phillip Cloud as follows: Loren Austin
[Lucy Nell Cloud, Jacob Henry Cloud, William Cloud, Phillip
Cloud, John Cloud]. In many of his letters, Loren shared
with me a lot of facts from his research and a lot of his
theories about our ancestors. It was with sadness that I
learned of his passing, and it is with gratitude that I
learned much about our Cloud forbears from him.
I welcome comments or questions and ask that you post them
on this CLOUD-L forum. Above all, please remember that all
of my conclusions are based on my interpretation of the
facts as I found them. In other words, you need to check
out the records yourself.

Hope this helps. Anyone have the same lines?
I also have an Elizabeth Cloud, married to John Dickerson's father Robert

Hello Jean. Read your message this morning and wanted to let you know that
Malissa Cloud was married first to Samuel Charles or Charles Samuel Cloud
first in 1841. (LA marriage records) He died and she then married Burrell
Rushing. I am descended from that Morgan and Cloud union. My great
grandfather was William Samuel Morgan, my grandfather was George Morgan of
Saline, LA and my mother was Essie Evelyn Morgan of Saline, LA.
Ronald, yes, I believe I corresponded with Beth a few years ago on Malissa
Cloud and Mary Ann Cloud. Do you have any details on Mary Ann and her husband
John Dickerson? I have just sketchy info on Mary Ann Cloud, mostly family
legend that she was of indian blood, her given name was Lasafiene, and that
she was educated by the Ursaline order. I have not been able to really
confirm much of her life.
Thanks,
Jean

I got this from a few of my lists. Normally I would not pass this on to my
lists, but these are different times. I think this is a fabulous
idea -------- And it certainly does make sense to me.
A movement has been started like that from Desert Storm. During Desert
Storm we tied yellow ribbons anywhere we could. Well, now the movement
is to tie purple ribbons the same way. This is for two reasons.
1. In remembrance of not only the firefighters, police officers,
paramedics who have died, but also for all who have died in this
terrible tragedy.
2. Just as in the military, when a serviceman get injured, he is given
the Purple Heart. Well, our country has been injured to its core.
Please pass this on to everyone you know, and let's see purple ribbons
everywhere. Along with the flag of the United States of America.

The hints given by martisnider are good ones. I believe if you are tenacious enough you can view the Dawes Rolls online at NAIL but I've never had the patience. And if your Cherokee blood ended up in LA, they probably aren't on there anyway. In order to be counted by the govt. you had to be at the right place at the right time. The early rolls might be a better bet and there's an excellent tutorial on the First People of Tennessee site on the Tennessee GenWeb. If you think your ancestors were in Indian Territory in what is now the northeastern corner of Oklahoma then contact Cherokee First, a nonprofit organization-the address is on the cherokee.org website. If I can be of further assistance please contact me.
