Hi Bobbie, I just got your message. I was unable to open the url. Would you min sending it by email...maybe I'll have better luck. I am VERY interested in what you have, since Leah was Margaret Ann Cloud's sister. On the 1850 Clinton County, IN census, Margaret was called Peggy Ann Cloud. She was living in the household of her son, Daniel White (My G grandfather), I think. If you have any information on Margaret herself, you will be the first person I know to have it. By a long process of reading following migration, reading census' looking at Cloud lines, I finally arrived at her parent's identities. However, what I have has to be called circumstantial, because I have never seen a record of her marriage to Alexander White, nor have I actually seen her specifically referred to by birth year (1806). Of course having her parents being second cousins and both fathers named William, really made it fun.....NOT. I will be anxiously waiting to hear from you. Right now, I'm leaving !
to get my drivers license renewed, which, due to my neglect, has expired as of several weeks ago...I just realized it yesterday. Regards, Susan in Texas (where it's finally raining) mcatee1(a)prodigy.net

TO: Melanie Young and Gayle Kennedy who have expressed an
interest in PROOF that John Cloud of Jackson Co., FL is the
son of John Cloud (b: c 1782) of Decatur Co., GA.
On 11 Aug 2001, I posted to CLOUD-L my documentation for a
"Connection: Decatur Co., GA/Edgefield Co., SC:. I assume
that you have seen this and I will not repeat those facts
related to John Cloud (b: c 1782) and his son, John Cloud
(b: c 1820) in Decatur Co., GA.
My proof that John Cloud (b: c 1820) is the same John Cloud
that went to Jackson Co., FL is "a 250 Acre tract of land in
Decatur Co., GA identified as District 21 Lot 69".
Following is a Grantor/Grantee history of this property
showing the transaction dates.
16 May 1839 Peter Hogg to Reuben Cloud (b: c 1803). See
Decatur Co., GA Deed Bk F-7
28 Sept 1842 Reuben Cloud (b: c 1803) to John Cloud (b: c
1820) See Decatur Co., GA Bk F-9
20 Dec 1854 John Cloud (b: c 1820) to William C. Watson,
both of Jackson Co., FL, for land in Decatur Co., GA. See
Jackson Co., FL Deed Bk B-255.
The problem with this deed in Jackson Co., FL is that it
identifies the land in Decatur Co., GA as
District 27 Lot 69
and not
District 21 Lot 69
In the belief that the deed in Jackson Co., FL had an error
in the District Number, I asked my sister-in-law, Elaine
Sanders, of Cairo, GA to visit the courthouse in Decatur
Co., GA and try to track down the discrepancy.
BINGO!!!
She located William C. Watson in the Decatur Co., GA Grantor
book wherein a 250 Acre tract of land, identified as
District 21 Lot 69, was auctioned off for taxes and was
recorded in Decatur Co., GA Deed Book SHFF-P1.
Add to the above, the fact that John Cloud (b: c 1820) sold
his land in Decatur Co., GA, District 15 Lot 375 to Mansico
Cloud on 25 Jun 1844 in preparation for leaving GA. And
then, John Cloud first appears on the Jackson Co., FL Tax
List in 1846 and he has obviously moved to Florida.
I hope that I have not over-simplified the history of facts
at the expense of logic. And, I would appreciate learning
of any facts or documents that would lead a person to a
different conclusion. I am not prepared to address your
questions about the relationship of John Cloud (b: c 1820)
to James Cloud of Jackson Co., FL at this time. Hopefully,
I can post my theories at a later date.

Hi, I am related to a Jamie Cloud. He was born in 1947 as James C. Cloud, Jr.: the son of one of my brothers. The last I knew of him was in the mid 70's also. At that time he visited my mother in Knoxville, Tn. He had lived with her for a time, but had moved to Atlanta. I don't know what happened but no contact since then. Could this be the same one you are looking for? E-mail & let me know.
Rex,
These Clouds do get confusing, don't they. My great-great grandfather was John Cloud who married katherine A. Daniels on 13 April 1865 according to information from Jackson Co site. Their children were Mollie (Mary?), Charlie, Josephine, and Sally, I think. I don't have my information out. Charlie, W.C., married
Callie Belle Jones, also in Jackson Co. Her parents were Ben and Ella Jones. Charlie and Callie's children are Hines, Milford, my grandfather, Boyd, Maude, Beatrice, Maxwell and Leona.
According to the marriage records and census, Matilda (I'm assuming James' widow at that point, married Willis Jones. Then later I find on the census, Katherine is not enumerated (deceased?) with John, but Matilda is, along with her children listed (definitely James' kids) and also John and Catherine's children
listed.
(CLOUD, James 10/1/1854 GRIFFIN, Matilda )
(JONES, Willis 14 Jun 1880 CLOUD, Matilda )
(CLOUD, John 5/15/1883 JONES, Martilla )
So, it looks as if my John married James' widow, Matilda.
Do you think my John might be the son of John and Martha, listed as 3 yrs old in 1850? If its him and he got married in 1865, he would have been 18 yrs old, maybe 19 before the year was out. In the1860 census it is stated he is 11 yrs old. I'm thinking he probably was really 13 in 1860, as ten years before he was 3.
So he would have been 18/19 yrs old when he married. That sounds reasonable.
At any rate, you have to look at census info as well as marriage records to sort it out even halfway. Ok, so that's my story.
I would love to see your proof of the older John's parents? Are they the parents of James also? I suspect this since my John, the younger, the son of the older John, I think, appears to have married James widow later down the road.
