I have finally gotten the photograph of the Cloud-Pratt reunion on-line.
It is at:
http://mykindred.com/cloud/TX/cloud-pratt-reun.htm
There are 101 people in the picture -- most are not identified -- and
help identifying them would be very much appreciated.
There are several things at this page:
A - the photograph:
1 - a 72 dpi jpeg of it (144k)
2 - a 600 dpi jpef of it (2.6M)
3 - a 72 dpi jpeg with numbers corresponding to the list
4 - a list of the people in the picture
......
B - a newspaper article describing the event
1 - the article in html with links to the database
2 - the article in Word, rtf and text formats
3 - a picture of the article
4 - a list of names of attendees from the article
5 - a list of the names not "reconciled" with the known Pratt/Cloud
family tree
Please help me identify all of the people (Byron, I've not yet taken
the time to look at the corrections you've sent to me .... I will try
to do that tomorrow and get them on these pages ASAP).

Miriam,
I would especially like information on Malissa, who she married, and how the
Rushing name is connected to your family. I have a Rosanah Rushing who
married into my Harrell line. Do you have any family history about Malissa

Miriam-
It is possible that you are connected to John Cloud, the Revolutionary War
veteran who settled his family in Louisiana. His history is documented on a
web page by Bruce Evans. Try this address: http://www.intersurf.com/~bevans/
or do a general internet search for Bruce Evans and/or John Cloud. John Cloud
was married to the Cheriokee, Betsy Lacey.
I am descended from John Cloud also, through Mary Ann Cloud, who is the
sister to your Malissa. Malissa and Mary were the daughters of William Cloud,
b. 1798, who is the son of the revolutionary John Cloud, b. 1739. It looks
like you might have skipped William in you email?
Mary Ann Cloud, b. 1828 married John Dickerson, b. 1822. They raised their
family in Ouachita Parish, Louisiana. My family legend cites Mary as full
Indian also, with the given name of Lasafiene, educated by the Ursaline
order. I have quite a bit on the Dickerson line if anyone would like me to
share that with them.
I suspect that William's wife Rebecca Roe may have been full indian and that,
combined with the indian descent from Betsy Lacey, would give Mary and
Malissa quite a bit, but not full, indian heritage. The indian features still
run strong in my family.
I have come across one or two other researchers in the Malissa descent. I
could backtrack and look up their email addresses if you are interested.
Hope this makes a good connection for you. If you do not find the website on
John Cloud, let me know and I will email you some of the text I have copied
from it.

Macy -- that's a pretty amazing coincidence -- i.e., that there have been
two Ruth Clouds who married John Thrashers. Are you sure that "Cloud" was
your Ruth's maiden name rather than a middle name? If it were the latter,
she may have been a granddaughter of the first one. Harry

What is the available [hard/soft?] evidence that points to this William
being the son of Joseph Cloud of Peters Creek NC? I'm from the William
Cloud/Alice Hardin camp.

Two points: (1) It's my understanding that the official Cloud Fam. Assoc.
position on the Wiltshire Cloudes is that the earliest-known 16th Cent.
ancestor was not Thomas but Robert (b. 1528) who married Isabel Brede.
(2) Available evidence indicates that Capt. Wm. Cloud (Rev S) of
Henry>Patrick>Carroll Co., VA, was a son of Joseph Cloud of Peter's Creek,
VA-NC, not from the Frederick Co./Front Royal family.

My line is me: Miriam Estella Smith
my dad: Marvin Edward Smith
my grandmother: Lela Marquedant Smith Jorgenson (1907-1999)
my great grandmother: Chestine Warren marquedant
my 2 great grandmother: Malissa Ann Rushing Morgan Warren
my 3 great grandmother: Malissa Ann Cloud
my 4 great grandfather: John Cloud (1740-1840) -- died in Winn Parish, LA
I dont know who John's father was. I think there was a brother who lived
117 years, too.
Miriam Smith
As Ken Cloud notes in his response to this query, Ruth Cloud Thrasher was
the daughter of Isaac Cloud (b. abt 1707), orig. of Chester County, PA, and
later of Brunswick>Halifax>Lunenberg>Pittsylvania Co., VA. She was the
sister of Eliz. Cloud Layne and Isaac Cloud, Jr. If she had Indian blood,
it was through her mother, whose identity is unknown. Isaac was of totally
English background. It's not implausible that he may have had an Indian
wife (perhaps a first wife) as there is substantial reason to believe that
he was the "Indian trader" who was murdered in 1751 (along with his young
children -- prob. by a second wife) by a group of Savannas on the Little
Saluda River in S. Carolina (see Merriwether, Robt. "The Expansion of South
Carolina, 1729 - 1765"; also, see most recent issue of Cloud Family Journal,
vol XXXIII, no. 1, pp 10-13 ). There is a book on the Thrasher family that
might shed some light. Harry

My Ruth Cloud Thrasher would have had to be born in the mid 1800's or
just a little later. She and John had a daughter, Rebecca, probably
about 1880 to 1885. In my grandmother's family Bible she wrote Ruth
(Ruthie) Cloud and John Thrasher as the parents of Rebecca Thrasher who
married Dock Archie Reach. Their youngest son, John Thomas Reach, was my
grandfather. These have to be two seperate Ruth's.
