I am may be the source for the date listed as Mansico's birth. I have
the info from the bible of his daughter, Mattie. But, I think that
assunptions have been made as to which Mansco this date belonged to.
(most likely by me very early on.) I know that "''my" Mansico was born
in Jan. of 1851 and that his only known wife was Lou (Poss. Loucinda)
Ella Harris of GA. That he married around 1882 and had the following
children:Mattie, Marshall, Pryor, Henry, Carrie and Viola. This Mansico
an be found in Henry Co., GA census for 1900 Mas. with wife Ella.
1900 Decater Co., GA census lists Mas Cloud (b 1842 ) Anna B as wife
Children Nora, Carrie, Bella, and May.
So we definitely have 2 different Mansico's very near in age and in very
simular locations.

As the post by Ray Shirley (Cloud List on Rootsweb)indicates, Ursula DiDamie Cloud was the daughter of Isaac Cloud (Jr.), 1787 - abt 1855, who settled in McMinn Co., TN, at some time during the 1820s. The 1840 census found him in the new county of Polk, but he most likely remained on the same land, a section of McMinn having been absorbed by that new county. The article quoted in the post was written by my cousin Edith for (as I recall) the Polk County volume of the recent nationwide project of county histories and is therefore focussed on an account of the family only in the county.
According to the 1850 census, Isaac was born in South Carolina; but he spent a portion of his young adulthood in Claiborne Co., TN, where he was living when he enrolled in a local company for service in the War of 1812 (as a first sergeant in Capt. Wm. Huston's Company, Bunch's Mtd. Regiment (6 TN Volunteers)). Disharged 19 Jan., 1814, at Tazewell. He was the son of Isaac Cloud (Sr.), whose birth is usually given as 1752 but which may well have been earlier (one estimate is 1743), probably in Virginia. His father, Joseph Cloud (1709 - abt 1780), acquired a substantial amount of land in the VA/NC border area, during the 1750s and 60s, in what is today Patrick Co., VA, and Stokes Co., NC (Henry and Rowan/Surry, respectively, at the time) along and near Peter's Creek, a tributary of the Dan River. In addtion to Isaac, Joseph Cloud Sr. definitely had sons named Joseph Jr., Jason, and William -- and in all likelihood two others (Jeremiah and Benjamin).
Isaac served in the Revolution as a lieutenant with the Henry Co., VA, Militia. Afterwards, he and his brothers were active in the westward part of the State (now northeastern Tennessee), but he eventually settled in Rutherford Co., NC, where he died at some point between 1820 and 1830. His first wife's Christian name was Ursula ("Usley"), and the assumption is that Isaac Jr. was her son -- based in part on the name that Isaac (Jr) gave his daughter. [It's obvious that there were some pretty wild pronunciations and spellings of the name -- I have also seen "Ursler," which is closer to the real thing but probably reflects Tennessee speech whereas "Usley" is more likely the way it was said in Virginia, where the letter "r" is avoided if possible and final vowels tend to be swallowed). Isaac Sr's second wife, by whom (acc. to most accounts) he had four sons, was Sarah ("Sallie") Lankford. Thusfar, no-one has discovered any record of the first wife's surname, but it ma!
y be significant that the given name Ursula was borne by several members of the Gaines family (also of the Peter's Creek district), with whom the Clouds were very close, judgng by the number of land transactions in which both families were involved together.
Unfortunately, we lack even a given name for Isaac Jr's first wife, who was the mother of all his children. DiDamie" may or may not be a clue. (His second wife's name
was Joanna.)
It is fairly certain that Joseph Cloud Sr. was the brother of Isaac Cloud of Brunswick>Lunenburg>Halifax Counties in Virginia during the late 1730s and 1740s and that he (Joseph) owned property adjacent to his brother's. From court documents, we know that this Isaac Cloud (the first in the family) was the son of Joseph Cloud of Chester
Co., PA, and thus a descendant of William Cloude, a First Proprietor who immigrated in 1782. There is disagreement over which Joseph C. (of two known possibilities) is referred to.
Note that I have at least one disagreement with my cousin's account. I think that the Isaac Cloud who fought with George Cloud in the Seminole War and the Cherokee Removals was not Isaac Jr. but his son Isaac III, who doesn't usually appear in available genealogies. This Isaac married Elizabeth Bennett in Cherokee Co., TN, sometime in the 1840s, as I recall), and there's a large folder in the U. S. Archives on his widow's efforts to obtain a Federal war veteran's pension. In 1850 he was picked up by the census of Bradley Co., TN, with virtually all the same children named in the widow's application.

Do any of you have a Bernie Cloud in the family? He married Pat Gilbert (maiden name) this was a remarriage for her, not sure about Uncle Bernie but think he was married before. They had a home in Marble Falls. Pat was a hairdresser for many years. She still live probably in Austin TX area near or with her daughter Mary.

The date of Mansico's birth in 1851 would correspond with the age shown in the census data.
Anyone out there got anything to confirm this, or that really knows just who Mansico belongs to.

Am looking for any information on a Jesse T. Cloud, born approx. 1842. Enlisted in the Civil War on 11-13-1862 in Ohio, I am thinking either Hocking or Perry County. I have a couple of letters that he wrote during the war and am trying to put together a background on him. One letter dated Nov. 24, 1864 (Thanksgiving Day) to "Friend Rufus". Written from Chattanauga, Tenn. Another letter addressed to: J.W. Henderson, dated June 29, 1864.

A Reuben Cloud was listed as head of family in Anderson County, TN, in
the 1830 census, page 180.
A Reuben Cloud was listed as head of family in Knox County, TN, in the
1840 census, page 41. These two counties are adjoining and during that
time county borders were changing so this could well be the same Reuben
who did not move between 1830 and 1840 but the county line could have
been changed.
I suggest that you examine county records for both Anderson and Knox
counties. Look for land transactions and court records. Something may
be found there to give you the identity of Reuben's parents. There were
many Cloud families in East Tennessee at the beginning of the nineteenth
century. Happy hunting.
Anybody out there got anything on these folks, I didn't, but maybe you can help him.

I posted a query on genforum on John T. Cloud and Lucretta Emaline Smothers
yesterday. Today I received an email with a picture attachment from
acloud@dodgenet -- no host was given on the email, so when I tried to email
back to ask if it would be ok to open the attachment my email could not be
delivered. This is the second time this has happened. The first email was
received last week but from a different email address and it did contain a
virus but I did not open it ---- BE ASSURED THAT MY COMPUTER IS VIRUS FREE
--- it always happens on my Cloud queries --- does anyone on the list know of
anyone with such an email address????
Know this post is a bit unusual, but thought the list might like to know.

I believe the best way to get new members is to advertise the gathering and
invite anyone to attend - once there and exposed to the CFJ and "all us
