Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I was subscribed to myfamily.com by someone who thought I was working on that
family. (I was not.) The result was daily notices of additions to the list,
pictures, reminders of birthdays and anniversaries, and an endless stream of
advertisements. Jo Myler

Cecil, et al
after visiting several MyFamily sites, I am impressed with
what they've done and wonder if we ought not to open up a
site for our family.
I do have several questions about it though:
- as with the various bulletin boards, does having more of them
make things better or does it confuse and make things more difficult
(I think it's the latter)
- will the MyFamily site conflict with or otherwise degrade the
effectiveness of this email list ??
- MyFamily.com seems to me to already be stretched thin as access
is sometimes slow and occasionally unobtainable
- the concept that they've implemented seems best suited to small
groups rather than to large ones (our email group consists of 144
subscribers realtime & digest).
....
Cecil, if it's okay with you, I'm going to see if I can work through
all 144 names and send all of our participants an invitation to join
the Cloud MyFamily.com group .... that way we can see if it will
work for a large group. I would like to know ... don't want to be
the obstacle in the path of progress.

I want to thank the Indiana folks for responding so quickly to my
request. Thanks to you I now have the name of the home county for the
Levi Cloud I have been chasing. This is what Rootsweb, the Cloud Mail
List, and sharing genealogy data is all about.

My search of the CLOUD CD has not provided what I am seeking.
Perhaps one of you Indiana Clouds can help me.
One of my Cloud relatives in Jackson County, AL stated in his
application to the Southern Claims Commission that he had a "near
relative" by the name of Levi Jessop Cloud, who was a member of the
Indiana 100th Infantry Regiment. This Levi Jessop was posted within two
miles of James Cloud's home in Jackson County, to guard the Memphis and
Charleston railroad. James stated that Levi spent much time visiting in
James' home. I'm trying to determine the Indiana home county for this
Levi Jessop.
The local library does not have the complete rolls of the Indiana
1850 census nor does it have the roster of the Indiana 100th Infantry. I
would be most grateful if someone could check the Indiana 1850 and/or
the 1860 census for a listing of Levi Jessop Cloud. If a roster of the
Indiana 100th Infantry Regiment is available, please check it for a
listing for Levi.
Thanks,
Ray Shirley

Thank you very much. Do you have any genealogy on him? One of my Cloud
relatives in Jackson County, AL stated in a sworn affidavit that he was
closely related to Levi Jesop Cloud. I will be happy to exchange info with
you.

Having lived in Wilmington, DE for 30 years or so, I would suggest seeing
Longwood Gardens on Rt. 1 in DE..They have different floral displays
depending on the season and the Fountains at dusk with the lights are worth
seeing too.
My Daughter-in-law works there as a Horticulturist..
Enjoy your trip!

Longwood Gardens are a must see while you are in the area if you have any
garden interest.

Laura,
Following the obligatory Independence Hall tour and lunch at Bookbinders, I'd
suggest following the tour route Taylor Cloud established for the CFA in 1997.
It's described in Cloud Family Journal Vol. XX, No.1 (1997-98). which is on
the CFJ CD. That was a fascinating tour and a great weekend. Taylor may have
additional suggestions, and I'll "bcc" him in case he's not currently
monitoring this list.
Have a good trip.
