Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I am hundreds of messages behind in reading my e-mail. I've got to

PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE IS NO DESIRE ON MY PART FOR ANY RECOGNITION
OR ACCOLADES FOR DOING THIS! ..... THIS WEB PAGE, WHILE HEAVILY
CATERING TO MY PARTICULAR LINEAGE, IS FOR THE USE OF ALL MY COUSINS!
.... my original goal was and still is to give my children, nieces
and nephews something of their heritage ..... and, the more I dig
into it, I am burdened by how we've forgotten the sacrifices our
forefathers/mothers made for us to have the multitudinous blessings
we now enjoy! .... and, while I'm on my soapbox, two things gripe
me -- (1) that our mothers are so easily lost in all of this (i.e.
their lineages) and (2) that only the very good or the very bad
seem to get remembered.
Now, back to the Youngblood-Armstrong book .... it does have
some errors, but one of its great values is in the anecdotes,
letters and other documents they've included .... for example,
my 4-g-grandfather, Jeremiah Cloud, moved to Texas circa 1836
with a large contingent from Mt. Meigs area of Alabama and this
exodus is mentioned in the Y-A book.
I have added maiden names of women who were in the index with
their husband's names only.
http://genweb.net/~cloud/TX/Documents/Y-A_index-maiden_names.txt
I have also posted the index in text format (74 k) as well as the
"simple" html format (174 k).

I have copied the index to the book "YOUNGBLOOD-ARMSTRONG & ALLIED
FAMILIES" into electronic format (i.e. it's now in a file).
It can be viewed at
http://genweb.net/~cloud/TX/Documents/Y-A_index.htm
If you are not familiar with this book (pub 1962 and written by
Frances Youngblood and Floelle Youngblood Bonner, it covers many
families in early Georgia and Alabama ... including the Clouds,
Whittingtons and many other collateral lines. It is a good source
of clues.
For my CRAVEY kin, there's one reference to a Vera CRAVEY who married
Charles Edwin Houston. No dob for either, but Charle's parents
(Edwin Houston 1874-1905 and Nettie Baker) married in 1900. Charles
appears to be the eldest, so it could be assumed he was b. ca 1905
as probably was Vera. Elizabeth Cravey Hughes has a Vera CRAVEY
b. 1908 dau of Jno Lovett CRAVEY and Mittie HOLLAND .... but no
information on a marriage for her. The Y-A book says Vera and
Charles Houston had one adopted daughter.
Should you want this index in a file, I have it both in straight
text format and in a Word document (actually, I work in FrameMaker
so you can have it in that format as well).
Also, at this point, I have about 2/3 of the book entered into a
genealogical database -- IOW I can send a gedcom if anyone wants
that ..... but it's not complete .... very time intensive (this
danged index has taken me since 6:15 A.M. this morning with few
breaks .... about 11 hours!!).

I am presently going through all of the WPA transcriptions of early records for
East Tennessee counties and typing the information into my laptop. It is quite a
task and will take some time to complete. When I'm finished, I'll post it for
all to see. I am flabergasted over how many Cloud families were living all over
East Tennessee in the early 1800s. For example, a Jason Cloud family, a Jeremiah
Cloud family, and a Joseph Cloud family lived in Anderson County, TN in 1801.
And that is just for starters. I'll work as fast as I can and I will eventually
get to Claiborne County. Please be patient.

I am still sorting through about a two-inch thick set of messages that have been
building up for some time and which don't want to fit into any slot whatsoever.
Am still looking for evidence of Talitha Cloud who m. Isaac Cantrell. Is there
any evidence supporting their marriage in Shenandoah County, VA? ANY information
would be of benefit at this point.
Linda
Guess you cleared the room, Windy. 'Cause this is usually a busy list.

Someone is actually on this list. I joined a week ago and asked for some
information and never heard from any one. I am looking for Samuel "Sam"
Cloud born 1766 North Carolina. He married Mary Margaret "Peggy" Cupp,
daughter of Jacob Cupp and Sylvia Breeding. The only census I have found him
in is 1850 Claiborne County, Tennessee. Would anyone have any information on
Samuel Cloud? Who are his parents? Did they have any children?

Patricia & Laura .... as of this moment, there are 120 mail mode
subscribers and 25 digest subscribers or 145 people subscribed to the
Cloud Family list in total. ..... perhaps they are all busy, like
me, or don't know the answer to your question ... like me 8^)
while on the subject of no activity .... one of the reasons I've
been busy is I fancied up the main page to my family history web site
and added a site map to make some types of research easier. Take a
look ......

Got this from a researcher of a different line. Hope this helps someone.
