Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Is there a Hal Cloud on this list ? .... Cecil, et al, is there
a Hal Cloud member of CFA ? ... there's a cousin hunting for him.

the parents of daniel boone cloud. also shelby longsteet cloud was married i
think 4 times. but off the top of my head i cannot remember their names.

I suspect most of you have some Scottish / Irish ancestry. I'd
like to see you at this year's Gathering of the Clans in Salado, TX.
It's the second weekend full weekend in November .... Nov 11th & 12th
in Salado (see below).
My family has gone to this for the last three years and thoroughly
enjoy it -- I "high"-ly recommend it.

Karen,
... I am the list manager.
... I read all the posts.
... I saw the post you refer to -- and, occasionally, others similar to it.
Here is my modus operandi ....
. we are all adults here
. we all have good intentions
. we all make mistakes
There are some precious people on this list who feel like we are all
friends they can share with. Yes, that post was not appropriate to the
purpose of this group and, were that sort of thing to continue, I would
have said something. But, an occasional errant posting done in good faith
by one of our cousins ought to be something we can live with (heck, even
old "purrfect" me makes an occasional mistrake). If someone does
something that you might not understand or might disagree with, lets
try to be a little patient and be careful to not hurt them.
.... remember,
- not everyone is as internet savvy as you are
- not everyone is proficient at writing their thoughts and often
what they write isn't what they meant -- or at least the effect their
words have on the readers isn't what they intended
If you think there is something happening on the list that is
inappropriate, please let me handle it. Write me at either of
the below addresses and I'll deal with it.

I sincerely hope that neither you nor anyone else misunderstands what
I've written. I want harmony here and want to avoid turning people off
and losing their participation.

Now we are getting SCAM SPAM on the Cloud family list?
Edwin Cloud,
I would appreciate it if you would please remember what the purpose of the
list is. I get enough junk e-mail about pitiful people whose lives are going
to be affected by asking people to pass junk mail around to each other. If
you don't believe this is a scam and you are being a nice person, I can
appreciate the fact that you have a good heart. However, I would bet that if
you contacted the Make-A-Wish Foundation, they will tell you they do not
allocate money in this way.
I have checked out several of the big health research and charity
organizations when I have received messages like the one you sent to us.
One example of a response I received came from the American Cancer Society
when I sent them a copy of one of the letters I received about a tragic
person and ACS giving money for that person's treatment if people forwarded
e-mail messages:

Thank you for contacting your American Cancer Society to determine the
legitimacy of chain email. As far as the American Cancer Society can
determine, the stories portrayed in these chain emails are unsubstantiated.
In many cases, such chain letters are designed to generate a long list of
email addresses for future online direct mail, sometimes referred to as
'spam' in the world of the internet and junk mail when it arrives in your
mailbox.
The American Cancer Society does not endorse these chain letters, but we
realize that, aside from the originator of the email, many of the senders
share a good-hearted intention of helping fight cancer. We hope you will
share with your friends and colleagues the many legitimate ways to support
cancer research, including our annual Relay for Life community-based event.
As a nonprofit organization, we gratefully accept donations, which can be
processed through the American Cancer Society website or by calling
1-800-ACS-2345. If you wish to donate online visit our website at
http://www.cancer.org.
>From the homepage:
1. Select "GIVING"
2. Select your donation preference.
For more information on the fraudulent chain letter, please visit our website
at http://www.cancer.org. From the homepage:

Hey guys.
I don't know if these things really work or not. I don't know
if they will get any money from this, but I know we can pray for her. God
is a big God and can heal her. So, pass this on to your friends and keep her
in your prayers.
Hi, my name is Amy Bruce. I am 7 years old, and I have severe lung cancer
from second hand smoke. I also have a large tumor in my brain, from repeated
beatings. The doctors say I will die soon if this isn't fixed, and my family
can't pay the bills. The Make A Wish Foundation, has agreed to donate 7
cents for every name on this list. For those of you who send this along,
thank you so much.
Have a Heart, please send this.

may be off. They are reported (by family legend, or rumor) to be the

I didn't realize that GenWeb stripped off the primary recipient's address
in resending to the list.
BTW, if anyone still has me in their address books as
CStokes(a)traveller.com, please note that the final transition to
CStokes(a)hiwaay.net is underway and the traveller address may start bouncing
any time. (Traveller's "retail" business was purchased by Hiwaay early in
the year and I have been getting mail addressed to Traveller as forwarded
mail since then.)

I think this is a well used scam and would use extreme caution in deciding
to respond. I have seen this type thing written up in the paper. . Susan

Am curious if there are any others searching for the family of
Solomon CLOUD, b. 2-10-1832 in White Co. IL; d. 9-7-1931 in Beatrice,
Gage, NE. He married Elizabeth Jane CRIM in DeWitt Co., IL in 1853.
I have found in him in the the Civil War records as serving in the G Co.
94th Inf. Reg. IL, 1862-1865.
They had 10 children born to them:
1. John Cherry CLOUD (1854-1921) My line
2. William Harrison CLOUD (1856-)
3. Amanda Sophia CLOUD (1859-)
4. Lou Eva CLOUD (1861-)
5. Thomas Reed CLOUD (1861-1909)
6. Daughter CLOUD (1863-1863)
7. Eddie CLOUD (1863-)
8. Michael Troutman CLOUD (1871-)
9. Solomon Burd CLOUD (1871-1951)
10.Estella May CLOUD (1875-)
Any information concerning this family would be greatly appreciated. I
have some very good documentation about John Cherry CLOUD's family from this
point forward. But would like to know if anyone else out there is
chasing or has found Solomon's parents or siblings.
Thanks in advance,
Joycel King Anderson
