Hi Helen and Rusheen
I was just looking up the Clothier line and I realised that I had forgotten that Albion Clothier and his sister Elizabeth Martin Clothier, along with their respective partners went to Victoria, Australia. I have got a few descendants of these on my list and I can send them if they of any help. I haven't at this stage followed up on that line.
By for now
Mary
Hi Helen
It sounds as though we are researching the same family. I have a lot of info on the N.Z. families of Samuel, Rachel, Edward but very little on their brother John and sister Sarah. I have John coming to N.Z. in 1854 and then listed on the 1860 Christchurch Militia Roll but no record of him after that. Have wondered if he went to Australia or back to England. The only details I have of Sarah are on the 1851 Census in Ditcheat.
I have ancestors back to Lional born 1701 so it will be good to compare details and fill in missing gaps.
I have very little on the Clothier family that went to Australia and I have not proved any of it as yet. I have a Mabel Belinda Cloyther born Christchurch 1878 and died 1959, Burwood, Victoria, Australia.
Thanks for your reply, Mary
Hi Mary,
Samuel is one of the family, I will send an attachment (later) to
you on the family of Lionel Clothier, Samuel Clothier & Samuel's sister
Rachael. Love to here more about the other Clothier family that went to
Australia from NZ.
Bye for now Helen

Hi Helen
My husbands Great Grandfather Samuel Clothier (Father Edward, Mother Jane Hooper) was born 1825 in Castle Cary, Somerset and went to Canada for a couple of years and then to New Zealand in 1850.
I know there was another Clothier family in Christchurch that went to Australia but I haven't at this point been able to tie them into our Clothiers but after reading your email we might be able to join them up.
I have made notes on all the BDM of the NZ Clothiers if that is any help.
Hope this is helpful, Mary
