Hi Ken, thank you for the post and information. The Kemptville group of CLOTHIER'S and BANKS are my family. I do have family history all the way back to Myles STANDISH of the Mayflower fame. If I can be of any help let me know, I'll be glad to share anything that I have. Lyman and Emeline GARLICK CLOTHIER are my 5th Great Grandparents. Please feel free to email me and let me know how I can help.

Is it possible that Eli was Elias Alfred Clothier, son of Henry Clothier of Oxford Township, Ontario (ABT 1803-1869)? He would have been born in the late 1820s, which would make him about 35 in 1860. He married Mary McDermid somewhere in Ontario, but I have been unable to locate where and whether Mary died.

Hope you are still looking for info on Henry and Ameline. The Henry Clothier who was baptized on 12 Feb 1825 with a whole gang of his relatives was the son of Lyman Clothier and Ameline (or Emmeline) Garlick. She was the daughter of the Reverend Reuben Garlick, so it is a safe bet that she was baptized in infancy (and probably rounded up all her brood to have the "done" at the same time in far-off Prescott). Henry was a farmer in Oxford-on-Rideau Township (the countryside surrounding the village of Kemptville) and married Ameline (surname unkown by me as is the date of their marriage) and had nine children. He died on 28 Mar 1869, according to the cemetery records of St. James' Cemetery, Kemptville, where he was buried.
Please contact me with any other information you have about the Kemptville branch of the Clothier family. I am working on a family tree for our local historical society. Henry's father Lyman is regarded as the founder of the town.
Cheers!
Ken.
