Hi Cynthia, what I have is this...
Jeremiah CLOTHIER was a servant, bound out to John VINEING, 06 Mar 1662 was his date of entry to America. Jeremiah was of Weymouth, a Solider on the Conn. river in 1676. He married Ruth, [no last name],born 1650's. She mar.2nd to John BAILY of Weymouth 06 Dec 1699. Children:
1. John CLOTHIER was born at Weymouth, lived later Colchester, Conn., mar. 27 Dec 1703 to Sarah BROWN, b.14 Dec 1633 , children: all of them listed on previous post.
Now I do show another Jeremiah CLOTHIER b.1680 at Weymouth, died 17 Dec 1695.. I have no idea on this one unless he is the son of Jeremiah CLOTHIER and Ruth. He died 17 Dec.1695, he was only 15 years old..?? I do know for a fact that my line is related to Myles STANDISH, at least I know something for sure !!?? haha I'm going crazy with the way my Great Aunt wrote this !! I know that there is a book because she said she saw it once, on the Clothier line.. There is also a link that gives all the names of the families that came over on the Mayflower..Does any of this jive with what you have??
Sandee,
I have a couple of sources that state that John and Jeremiah Clothier sailed on the Mayflower about 1629 and settled in Colchester, Conn. The name and place agree with yours, but not the date of entry into America. Could you tell me where you got your information? I have checked the passenger lists of both the Mayflower and Speedwell and found John Clothier, but not Jeremiah. However, servants were not listed. If Jeremiah was bound out, that would explain why he was not listed. NOW, to get the right date!
I have a Clothier book, which appears to be a rather "home-grown"affair. It was given to me by my mother (a Clothier descendant) and has a narrative and a family tree. The narrative is EXTREMELY confusing (there are Johns and Jeremiahs and Ambroses all over the place!) and the family tree (more of a "timeline" really) starts a generation or two after the narrative says our Clothier ancestors came to America.
The book is chockful of interesting little tidbits, but it doesn't expand much on them, having skipped several of the first generations. It mentions that John Clothier III (born 1734) was killed in the Revolutionary War in 1777, but gives no details about him (such as rank, military unit, etc.)
If you have a more definitive source, I'd really love to check it out. Thanks for any info you can give me. When I can figure out how to do it, I'll see if I can get you a copy of this timeline, if you're interested.
Thanks, Cynthia Bateman

Lorraine,
Your are in my line of Clothiers... my Susannah, Mary's sister, married
Thomas Thomas about 1725, I think (need to look it up).... I knew some of
them were Quakers, but haven't found a lot of information about them... do
you have more information? I have some information going back on each line,
but only have documented the Thomas line......
Cathy
James,
My Thomas and Clothier families are from Talbot County, MD in the 1600's...
My Susannah Clothier married Thomas Thomas and her sister, Mary Clothier,
married Thomas's brother, Stephen Thomas... I need to look it up, but I think
Susannah was born about 1700...
Cathy
Hello James,
I just read your message to Cyndi re: Robert Clothier. One of my
ancestors. Robert Clothier married Jane Kemp. They had a daughter Mary who
married Stephen Thomas 5 January 1731/32 . She died in Queen Anne's County
before 1767. They were Quakers. -------Does this fit in with your line?

Cyndy, My Thomas and Clothier ancestors are from the Eastern Shore of Maryland in the 1600's and early 1700's. I do not find a connection with you Clothiers, but my guess is that there is a connection.
