Hello,
I'm looking for information that anyone can give me about my gr gr gr grandmother Susan Jane Clossin that was born Nov. 21, 1823 in Philadelphia, Penn. I would like to know who her parents were, I know that they were both born in PA. But that is all I know.
She married John Martin Dec. 15, 1838, John and her had 11 children born in the following states Indiana, Missouri, Iowa from 1842 to 1868. In the 1880 census they lived in the Alder Creek Pretinct, Klickitat County, Washington.
Susan died July 29, 1920 at the age of 97 years, and is buried at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Klickitat County, Washington State.
Her tombstone reads Susan Jane (Clossin) wife of John Martin. I have found the Clossin name spelled Clausen, Closson, Claesson, Clossia. But I think the right spelling is the one on her tombstone.
Any and all help would be apppreciated.
JJ

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Kent County, Rhode Island as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.
Soldier: ARCHIE JAMES CLOSSON
Born: October 23, 1928, Caucasian
Date of loss: July 12, 1950, Prisoner of War (POW)
When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Closson family is one of those missing.
When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.
I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Frederick Francis Closson, 79, died Nov. 17, 2004, in Penobscot. He was born
Feb. 19, 1925, in Bristol, R.I., the son of Charles W. and Mae (Miraldes)
Closson.
Frederick retired after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He was a member
of the American Legion Post 207 and the VFW Post 109 of Ellsworth. He was a
wonderful father, a great storyteller and a good provider. He will be sorely
missed by all of his family, especially during the upcoming holidays. Just
goes to show you that one day the donkey will move. Hope that there's plenty
of mud balls, tacks and lots of fishing line up there.
Fred is survived by his son, Frederick Closson Jr., and wife, Chauwn, of
Somersworth, N.H., and four stepdaughters, ages 17, 15, 12 and 7; one
daughter, Donna Closson of Bucksport and her two children, Felica, age 13,
and Zachary, age 4; and several cousins.
Contributions in Frederick's memory may be made to the American Legion Post
207, Ellsworth, ME 04605. Arrangements by Jordan-Fernald Funeral Home, 1139
Main St., Mount Desert.
