After Christmas I will send you what I have. I would like to start a small
information center for the Clossons to exchange info with others
Hi all,
I'm a Closson too...I have talked to Ann before about my Closson side. I
don't remember if she was able to help me or not.
I am the daughter to Loren William Closson (aka as Happy), I believe my
grandfather was Charles Closson. But Not sure, my grandparents died before I was
born. Her name was Vera?or Verna Hayes (I think) I believe and she died in a
car wreck in the 1940's. I remember seeing the newspaper article with a
picture of the car as a little girl. I don't know how my grandfather died.
My dad's history has been hard to find. He had two older sister's Lila and
Nina, they lived in Montana. Aunt Nina lived to be over 100 yeats old and
recently passed away. I believe they were from Missouri or Minnesota area when
they were small. My dad passed away in April 27, 1954. He is buried at SeaTac
Bonnie Watson Cemetery, Washington State. My mom Rena B. (Dossey) Closson was
just buried in the same cemetery in 2003. My dad was born on July 27, 1901. We
can't find out anything about him, other then what we know. Not much shows
up of his past.
We wondered where we are from, what nationality, and is there any type of
info on William L. "Happy" Closson. We do trace him in the census as a small
boy...but we find no news of him in the 1920's. He was married 3 times. First
marriage produced a daughter named Billie Bea, Closson, her mother named
Blanche. The census had her down as a boy. The 2nd marriage produced two boys,
Ronnie and Keith Closson, their mother name was Stella. The 3rd marriage
produced two girls, my younger sister Loraine C. Closson and Marjorie L. Closson,
our mother was Rena B. Closson.
Any information would be great. I do have a cousin who is on my mother's
side that gave us some info...but t doesn't tell us about our father...LOREN
WILLIAM CLOSSON, nickname was Happy.
I am not wrapped up in the genealogy too much... but I do have current
information that may be of use to someone that may be in our family.
>From One Closson to Another Closson~
Happy New Year 2008

I have photos taken in2000 from Praire Chaple Cemetery of Lighthill Stones and Anna Closson
also Oak Hill Cemetery in Decatur Iowa of Lighthill's
buried there and will share if you send your email address to me . \

Happy New Year to all the Clossons.
I thought I would just jump in here with regard to
Josiah Matthew Closson. He is the youngest son of
John and Jane Closson. He lived with his mother until
she died in 1870. He then married Sophia Benz in
1878 and died - childless - in 1882. He, Sophia, and
Jane are buried in adjoining lots in Ashland Cemetery.
If I've got this mixed up, someone straighten me out.

Don ,
Thank you so very very much for sharing the infomation you have with me .I
was disappointed to see the hard work and many hours my sister and I spent
on the Lighthill line attributed to Nate Liston as much of it came from me

Dom ,
I use my middlename Adette
Nate got alot of his info from me and my cousin Kay , his Grandmother.
There was a Closson Family Bible but it;s where abouts are unknown.
I have some notes from that bible my father Hugh made years ago. But nothing
that Nate doesn't already have.
He contacted me for Lighthill Lines .we did not discuss the Clossons .Kays
other grandchildren were very interested in Genealogy and I gave then every
note on all their lines that I had.
I also have a little info on a Phillip Closson family from the Savannah Ohio
area and some pictures of a large family reunion.I have not been able to tie
them into my line but would gladly share it to help some one else.
I have no info on the Clossons back before John &Jane !
Kay was 18 + years older than I am .She lived with my parents for some time
.
Warm regards
Adette

Hi Ann, I am not sure I have all the information on your tree. I am kinda
new at this but I have found there is a lot of miss information. Paula is
one. she is hung up on there being a lot of Indian blood in the Closson
line. She asked me if Jane could have been a slave. Some just got it a
little wrong like Nate Liston. He has great information but his site is not
correct in that his John that links back to the time of Moses was born 10
years before ours. He may have gotten that from Paula's information.
As to Jane Adams. I am the one who told Ed's wife that several years ago
when I started to look at my Closson line. My mother had several notes
stating that Jane Adams was the sister of John Quincy Adams. She assumed he
was President JQ Adams. Not so that I can find. He did live in Jefferson
Co., Ohio at the time Jane and John lived there too. I met someone from the
Steubenville, Ohio area whose Grandmother had a deed signed by J.Q. Adams
they found in a wall when remodeling. I could not convince him that this was
not President J.Q.Adams. John Q. Adams did buy and sell land for a profit
but I think the President was in his grave before this John Q. signed the
land !
After Christmas I will send you what I have. I would like to start a small
information center for the Clossons to exchange info with others that are
related to John and Jane. My line is as follows: John & Jane-John A.
Closson-Josiah Madison Closson-George W. Closson-Gladys A. Closson-Don
Sellers. I will send you what I have including trees from my Closson lines
Bible and from Linda Lopez's Bible.
Merry Christmas, Don

Merry Christmas to you!
Good to hear from you. You asked if I was a Closson. I am a direct
descendant of Josiah & Mary (Williamson) Closson. They are my 7th
great-grandparents.
I have corresponded with Karen Collins about John & Jane (Adams) Closson.
She is a very good researcher and able to provide sources for what she has.
I respect her research. I am not familiar with Marilyn and Pat, Linda Lopez,
Robert Williams. I corresponded with Paula McLeod. I tried to show her that
John that married Jane is not the same John as the one that married Amy.
About the only thing I couldn't provide was a statement from both John's
that they are not the same person. I could see her mind was made up so I
didn't bother to dig these two men up and get them to prepare a statement.
(I have a weird sense of humor) Edward Kimmel and Mark R. Gideon also come
to mind.
How I got involved in John & Jane (Adams) Closson. My great-grandfather
Charles C. Closson said he was born near Prairie du Chein [Grant
County]Wisconsin. I found a William B. Closson and his wife Mary B. Hamilton
in Grant County. I researched them thinking they might be my Charles C.
parents or grandparents. Their children were John, Jane, Richard, Bezaleel,
Samuel, Martin, Elizabeth, Jonas, Willard, Henry & Andrew. Mary died (no
wonder) and he married Phila __?__. They had one child Elizabeth. I learned
that William B.'s father was John Closson who died 1821 Jefferson Co. Ohio.
His wife was Jane who died 1870 in Ashland County, Ohio. I also learned
that my Charles see was born over in Rock County, his parents were Caleb &
Tryphena (Spencer) Closson.
I collect Closson names in a database so I can share them with others. I am
trying to pass on to others the help I have received.
I have a question for you when you have time. Please let me know the source
for John's wife maiden name of Adams. I did not have this. The Josiah Mathew
Closson subject line of your e-mail, could this be the Josiah M. Closson son
of John & Jane? If so what is the source for his middle name.
If at any time I can be of help to you please do not hesitate to contact me.
I wish you a Merry Christmas and that 2008 is your best year ever.
Ann Parsons

Does anyone know how John and Jane (Adams) Clossen tie into the Josiah Closson from England? I find the names of John and Jane's children along with their grand children seem to tie in but have not found the specific link. They seem to use the same children's names over and over and the name John seemed to be very common so it's been difficult to sort out which line we tie into. Can anyone help?

Opps, I mean Isaac Clossen might be the son of John and Jane (Adams) Closson which would make him Samuel Closson's brother. My Issac Clossen lived in Ashland, Ohio with his mom, Jane Closson after his dad (John) passed away. I have Isaac born about 1811.

Donna,
Did you ever get additional information on your Isaac Closson? I believe he might have been a brother of my gg grandpa, Abner Closson whose parents were Samuel and Mary (Long) Closson. Samuel's mom and dad were John and Jane (Adams) Closson aka Clossen. What year was Isaac born?
