Bob and all,
1860 U.S. Census Blue Hill, Hancock County, Maine has:
Zenas Closson age 47; Mary B age 53; Samuel age 18; Joel L. age 16;
Catherine V. age 14; Harriet L. age 13.
1880 U.S. Census on LDS website has:
Zenas Clossin [sic] age 67
Emma Clossin [sic] age 48 [my note: this is Zenas 2nd wife]
Hattie Clossin [sic] age 33
This sounds like the family from the Olive May Morgan scrapbook.
BUT it doesn't fit with page 209 of the Book "The Josiah Closson Family of
New England"
That page has Isaac(6) born about 1818. The Zenas age 47 in 1860 calculates
to born about 1813. The Zenas age 67 in 1880 calculates to born about 1813.
Does any one have the source for Isaac (6) birth as about 1818????

If someone is researching or interested in the Zenas Closson or his
descendants, perhaps they would care to reply on the mailing list. I would
certainly be interested in working on this line.

As moderator of the Closson list, I received the following email:
"Through an estate sale, I've obtained a scrapbook/journal of a woman named
Olive May Morgan. I have no birth or death dates for her, but she
graduated from the Training School for Christian Service of the New England
Deaconess Association in 1914, so she was probably born in the late
nineteenth century.
There are several obituaries in the book, as follows:
- Miss Harriet L. Closson, born in Blue Hill, Maine on 22 March 1847, died
at age 65 (no location given, just "at her home on Main
Street"). Survivors were nieces Olive Morgan of Florence (no state given)

state given) at age 69. Civil War veteran. Survived by widow (unnamed),
sister Miss Hattie Closson "of this town," son James E. of Danbury CT and
Luke W. of Monson.
From the information in these obits it would appear that Olive's mother
was a Closson, probably born or raised in Monson (Massachusetts?).
There is also a poem dedicated to the memory of Joel Closson of the
Fourteenth Regiment of Maine Volunteers, "aged eighteen years.""
I looked into this a little and the information refers to part of the Josiah
Closson family, the Nehemiah line. It appears to be Josiah1, Nehemiah2,
Nathan3, John4, Isaac5, Isaac6, and then part of Zenas7.
Anyone who is researching this line and who would be interested in the above
scrapbook should notify me.

I have relocated the Gravestones photos to: http://home.earthlink.net/~bobcotogene/
I have added copies of pages 165 & 231 from "The Josiah Closson Family of New England by William G. Closson (1952) Book".
I have added other photos from the Long Lake, NY and Saxton River, VT cemeteries that include Closson, Robinson, Keller, Plumley and Hough surnames.
I hope you will all go back and take a look and maybe identify any connections that you might know.
Thanks,
Bob Coto
I have Gravestone Photos available for any one interested. I would like to note that some of the photos do change some of the birth dates and death dates of some of the individuals listed in The Josiah Closson Family of New England by William G. Closson (1952) Book.
I took the photos when we were on our trip into New York and New England on June 2005.

Bob,
What a great service you've done for the descendants of Josiah Closson! Would that all genealogies were backed by such documentations (some of us come to that discipline later than sooner!).
One thought. As compiled records are changed, it might be worth making some reference to the discrepancy with the original Josiah Closson manuscript (I, too, have a copy typed on onion skin paper) -- there is a (remote) possibility that other sources were the basis for some of these dates, and like any other source of information, tombstone inscriptions may contain errors, given that a tombstone is erected, sometimes long after the event they represent.
I hope your good work with inspire others!

Richard Clawson, a famous jockey of New York, was
taken to the Sisters Hospital yesterday from the
Ford Hotel. Clawson came here two weeks ago with
a well developed case of lung trouble and has
gradually grown worse. It is believed that his
death is only a matter of a few days. Clawson
has been most prominent as a jockey in the W.C.
Whitney string and has been acknowledged one of
the three best American riders.
