What is on pg 78?
Maybe two John Closson living togeather as cusins or maybe my Johns parints came from England and left him with his grandfather Joseph Closson and thier was some confution when the census was done and that is why thier is two John's born around the same time but in two diffrent places living with the same family! Anyway I do not know how to prove any of this I guess it is posible that John might have come over with his mother and she had him in the US and then died shortly after?
I would love a copy of this info.
Fraser

I have been getting some help but am still wating for conformaiton of the findings presented to me. I have been told that my John Closson is the son of Joseph Closson(Josiah4, Timothy3, Josiah2, Daniel/Nehemiah1) and Mehitable Cornell. My John and this John were born in the same year, so it does look promising, however I would like to make sure and would love more info if you could provide it.
Now this Joyce Ward is from my recoards and we are cousins. Her Grandfather and my Great Great gandfather is Robert Closson son of Stephen Closson. I have contacted her son in the past John Bruce Ward. Although our families have lost touch I will let my grandfather know about this. They would be first cousins and if he does not already, I am sure he would like to.
Thanks for any help you can provide me

Fraser,
Have you been helped with your query? If not, I will try to help you. There are other Closson researchers that have far more data and experience than I do. Bob James, Bob Coto, Carol Munns, Barbara ? come to mind. They would do a better job than I can.
I corresponded with Joyce Ward for many years. She is now dead, she descended from Stephen Closson, who appears to be the same Stephen Closson as the one in William G. Closson's book that is son of John & Pauline (Sarah) Palmer Closson. Family 1200. Joyce was a wonderful lady.
Best regards,
Ann Parsons

I am looking for any info on John Closson born in 1776. I know he moved to Upper Canada (Ontario) in 1805 from New York State. It is stated that he was a shoe maker and tanner. He moved to Highland Creek and met his wife Pauline Palmer. In around 1813 he moved back to the US to Chautauqua County where they had most of thier children and moved back to Highland Creek some time after 1830-36.
William G. Closson has my Closson line in the back of one of his books under unknown Clossons. He interviewed some of my family back in the day and they stated that they thinck that John's father was a shiper from Cornwall England and died and left John with alot of money. John then moved in with his grandfather. It is also said that John had a brother named Gidean. Now if any one out thier with info on a John Closson that might fit my John Closson then please contact me!!! I would love to learn more about my families past. William G. Closson could not figure my family out, so I would like to brake the unknnown
Thanks

Hi Gavin,
What a wonderous web the Closson & Spencers weave. I have about the same children you do for Tryphosa. Except Martilla I have as Hannah M. I have Caleb with a possible marriage to a Susan and Hannah. No documentation on that other than the book 'The Josiah Closson Family of New England' W. G. Closson did well on the book until it gets to the Closson's that went to WI, MI and on west. Then we have incorrect names, people born years after their parents died, etc. I do have documentation of Hannah M. Caleb & Tryphena are my 2nd great grandparents. My mother knew their son Charles C. [my mother's grandfather] quite well. The book has info on Charles & his family that is about 99.9% incorrect. This Mrs. Henry Longfield is another mystery person other than the obit that states she is daughter of Tryphena I have little on her. The book has Tryphena dying in MN I have documentation that she died in Fargo ND. My great grandfather Charles C. Closson was born in Magnolia Township, Ro!
ck County Wisconsin. His son George Edward Closson is my grand father who I knew well.
I would like to share information with you and maybe we can learn if your Ambrose is the same one as the brother of Tryphena and Tryphosa's. I think there was another Ambrose in Rock Co. Right now I am getting ready to go out of town until Sunday and cannot document that there were two Ambrose Spencer's in Rock Co. Just my memory on this. I have lots of data on Caleb's descendants that I would be glad to share. Maybe we can also learn who Mrs. Henry Longfield is. Hope this makes sense, my husband is ready to leave, doing everything but gunning the engine!!
I will check my email as soon as I get home. This is great news!!!

I'm very interested in any information you may have about this family. I suspect that Tryphena's brother, Ambrose Spencer, is my ancestor. Caleb and Tryphena moved to Magnolia, WI from Jefferson County, NY, around the same time that my Ambrose Spencer moved there, and I know that Tryphena had a brother named Ambose who was born at about the same year as my Ambrose.
