Hi,
I remember talking to Aparsons before under a different e-mail. I had misplaced all info. I think she is shirt tail cousin. Anyway since my mother Rena Bell Closson passed away a year ago August 19, I have been involved a little more here. I joined a couple paid sites as well.
Thanks to a cousin on my mothers side (Dossey) George Lemons, I have been able to find out who we belong to. It appears we are what you're all calling the Minnesota Closson's. I couldn't find ANY INFORMATION on the Closson on my side in the West. That would be Washington state, Montana and whereever else we are all scattered.
MY QUESTION:
How can I get the history of my Closson family that I don't have? How can I share my information and correct dates of my Closson family to the other Closson families who are related to me back east?
I have seen information that we are from Prusia? I thought we were Scandanavian? Irish? What the heck are we anyway? lol
Please e-mail me at Snowecap(a)aol.com I will share information I have too. Looking forward to hearing from THE FAMILY.

Hi Scott,
I think Eliza, wife of Jared Closson, maiden name is Elisa Obrest and her parents born in Prussia.
Regarding the various names for Jared & his children. I have seen this quite often in the Wisconsin & Minnesota Closson's.
Also they seemed to prefer to indicate they were of scandinavian ancestry. Hence, the spelling Clausen. My great grandfather even referred to him self as "The Big Dane". Good grief!!!!
If you are interested in sharing information, please contact me.

I am trying to verify information I have about my gg-Grandmother Elma (Alma) Closson. Elma appears to be the daughter of Jarred Closson and Eliza Halley born about 1862 in Illinois. I would like to verify Jarred's real name. Jarred appears to be his nickname or possibly middle name. 1860 census informations shows a Caleb C Closson married to Eliza in Palmyra, Lee County, Illinois with children Milton, Adelaide, and Eddie. 1870 Census information shows a CJ Clausen (Closson) living in Saint Cloud, Stearns County, Minnesota and married to Elisa (Eliza) with children Albert, Ada, Elma, Nettie, Ernest, and Ida. Finally, the 1880 census shows Jarred Closson in Hartford Township, Todd County, Minnesota married to Eliza A. with children Albert N., Elma, Ernest, Ida L., Sophia E., Grace A., and Murry E. I would be grateful for further information about Jarred (date of death etc.) or his family.
Elma married John Harrington about 1882 (in Todd County I suspect). They had 9 children: Earl, Bertha, Vincent (Ben?), Ina, Floy, Charles, Verna, Gertrude, and Ralph. Bertha was my g-Grandmother (married Simon Urseth, her second marriage, in 1913). Information about Bertha's siblings welcome.
