I am doing some hit & miss research on my Closson family and a lady in Australia we are connected through the Mortleman family continues to amaze me with her findings. My Closson line has been established back to the 1700 in Harwich England as sail makers and sailors. She sent me the following:-Camden Society CD Volume #82 List of foreign Prodestants and Aliens Resident in England 1618 - 1688.
"A true certificate of the names of the strangers residing and dwelling within the city of London and the liberties thereof...vjth (not sure what date that is) September 1618?...
Libertie of the Clinck: *SPO Dom. vol 99 art 44
NIcholas Closson, looking glass maker, b at Amsterdam under his excellency (could not read) ; frequenteth the Parish ch of St Saviours in Southwark and doth commonly keep 4 servants, englishmen (his mark)"
The Camden Society reference is Vol 82 p 97 image 131/162 on the CD.
So he predates Josiah and he is a Closson and it sounds like there was probably not very many of them? Good luck keep us posted I do not have time to follow this up right now.

Jeffrey,
Bob James wrote me June 2002 that Timothy married first: Margaret Carr 10 March 1728 or 1729 in Little Compton, RI.
Hope this helps until you hear from Bob. my note: It appears that Rhode Island was formed about 1747. So they would not have been married in Rhode Island, most likely it was Massachusetts in 1728 or 1729.
Ann
