Hi Ann,
Thanks for the stray information.
Regarding Charles Closson with a date of death of August 8, 1883 is not the same one in my tree, nor do I have this one linked. I do have listed that the above individual was single. Unfortunately no other information was available on GENDIS.
The Charles in my family tree was a minor child when his dad died in the Civil War. He managed to continue collecting a Civil War pension up until the time of his death. I have as late as 1889 a pension reapplication with his signature on it. There is another one in 1894 that he did not follow through with. In 1896 the Wayne, Michigan postmaster wrote in a response to any inquiry by the Commissioner of Pensions that he thought Charles had died a year or two before.
There were several Charles Clossons in Michigan at this time, none of them are linked so far. One of them is Charles Henry Closson born 6-1-1875 who married a Mary Edna Scott and died 1-21-1945 in Mecosta, Michigan. His parents were William Closson and Chrisina.
I unfortunately do not have any information on any Closson or Motts in California.
I appreciate the input. Jo Ann

Hi Jo Ann,
In my stray Closson database I find a Charles Closson born Michigan (no
birth date) who died 1883 in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.
Also found a male Closson and a female Mott. They had a child who was born &
died 1950 in California. No first names for any of these.
I would appreciate your thoughts on these two entries.

Subject: [CLOSSON] Clossons in Vermont, New York and Michigan
Hello everyone,
I am looking for anyone with more information on this particular Closson
family.
John Charles Closson born c. 1823 in Grand Isle County, Vermont. I suspect
his father is Charles Cane Closson, but have no proof. Can anyone help
here?
John married Mary Iona Green (family lore has it that she was a Native
American) who was born c. 1825 in Canada East. In 1850 the John, Mary and
kids are in Bangor, Franklin, New York. By c. 1853 the family is in the
Nankin, Wayne, Michigan area. Mary died c. 1856 and John marries Jane
Wolfram in 1857. Jane was born in New York. John died in the prelude to
the Battle of Petersburg during the Civil War in June 1864.
The children of John and Mary are:
Mary Ione b . 1855 Michigan and died in 1934 in Wayne County, New York. She
married Sebastian Beck (Bieck) in Greece, Monroe, New York.
Charles H. b. 1853 and died c. 1894 in Wayne County Michigan. He was
married to a woman (unknown name) who married a George Russel after his
death.
Phoebe Ann b. 1848 in New York and died 1896 in Ypsilanti, Washetenaw,
Michigan. She married Lucas Daniel Cole.
Wealthy Closson born c. 1845 in New York
Minnie Closson b. c. 1847. She married George N. Mott in Alburg, Grand
Isle, Vermont.
Any assistance or information on this family is appreciated. Jo Ann Snyder

I am trying to find out more (especially the parents) about my Great
Grandfather, George Washington Closson. I understand that there my be
two George Washington Clossons, but my records show that this one was
born January 27, 1823 in Blue Hill, Hancock County, Maine. He died
December 11, 1878 on Long Island, Blue Hill.
He married Louisa Chatto (b. August 3, 1825, Blue Hill; d. 1892) on
August 29, 1840). They had seven children, including my Grandfather,
Franklin Eugene Closson.
I would like to know what any of you have about George Washington's
parents. Thank you.
Jim

Hi Listers,
I have another request for help. These Clossons seem to have settled in
Indiana.
I have not found them in the Josiah CLOSSON line but perhaps the researchers
from the Richard CLOSSON family would check their information. The given
names seem to be familiar to the Closson line from Claes>Gerbrant>William>
Thomas>John5-7 line of Clossons and I think we have some descendants of that
family on our list.
Thanks.

Looking for ancestors of Dorothy Closson or possibly Clossen, married
Kenneth HARRIS in the mid-1920s, divorced before 1942. I think they
met in Cincinnati, but don't know if she was from that area
originally, or where or exactly when they married.

JOHN CLAUSON
Arizona Republican Newspaper
Naco, Pima Co.
April 3, 1903
A fatal shooting scrape took place in Naco Monday evening
which resulted in the death of John Clauson, says the
Prospector. From what we were able to learn of the affair
it seems that Clauson was somewhat under the influence of
liquor and was engaged in fighting with a woman in one of
the wine rooms in the rear of one of the saloons when the
cries of the woman reached the ears of Deputy Sheriff Nody
Wilson. He entered the room and told Caluson to stop
beating the woman. Clauson replied that he would not,
at the same time reaching for his gun, and succeeded in
getting it out of his pocket when Wilson shot him
through the chest. Clauson's gun went off but the
shot went through the side of the building. A coroner's
jury exonerated Wilson from all blame.
