Another puzzle.
The 1860 census has John Clark Closson with wife Isabella or Isabelle she is
born about 1830 New York
The 1860 census has Amasa Closson with wife Caroline she is born about 1837
in Ohio.
The 1880 census has John Clark Closson with wife Caroline she is born about
1837 in Ohio.
Could John Clark Closson married the same Caroline that Amasa was married
to?? Perhaps after Amasa died? But what happened to Isabella/Isabelle???
What a hobby or addiction this is!!!!!
Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Hoping to get some discussion going on the differences on the Caleb Closson
line that went to Minnesota. William Gideon Closson wrote that he
experienced considerable differences in names and other information and I
must agree.
The above census has Family #90
E. B. [Elihu Bassett?} Closson family of:
Philena [maybe Tryphena??, where is Caleb?? maybe off to the state
legislature???]
Charles
Schuyler [how could he have died in 1863 as the Closson book states and be
listed on 1865 census?, also the military records state he died 1 May 1865
and was mustered out 19 August 1865, you military types, can one die and
later be mustered out????]
Dewitt
George
Susan
Ella
Flora
Family #127 is Elisha Palmer [could this be the same person as B. R.
Palmer??? or did she marry two Palmer men??]
Martilla [probably same person as Hannah M. Closson]
Mary
Albert
Herbert
[no Edward Palmer listed??, what happened to Edward??]
Family 128 is J. C. Closson [perhaps John Clark Closson??}
wife E.
The 1880 census lists John Clark Closson wife as Caroline. The Closson Book
lists Isabella. In 1865 we now have E. Maybe he had three wives????
Hope to get some thoughts on this census. It might be well to reply on the
mailing list in case there are others that find this interesting.

"Also, would some kind person help me learn who the A. Closson/Classon in
Magnolia Township, Rock County might be?"
According to William Gideon CLOSSON's "The Josiah Closson Family", Albert and
Frances (LAMPHERE) CLOSSON were in Wisconsin at the time of 1855.
(Albert7, Caleb6, John5, Caleb4, Ichabod3, Caleb2, Josiah1)
Of their 12 children, the following were born in Wisconsin:
v. Alonzo8 b. 1852 Wisconsin d. 1860 Iowa
vi. Florilla8 b. 1854 Wisconsin (a male by the way)
The first 6 children were males.
"I have been assured by various people in Dunn County that there has never
been a Stevens Prairie in Dunn County"
Could this be Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin?
I don't know if this helps
Would someone tell me how Harold Closson that at one time lived in Richfield
Minnesota connects to the Eugene and Laura Closson family?
Thank you,

Would some kind soul give me some input on the following?
The 1855 Wisconsin Territory census lists:
Clauson, Asa 4 males 4 females in Stevens Prairie, Dunn County
Clauson, Aslack & wife Deerfield, Dane County
Clauson, Caleb 1 male Stevens Prairie, Dunn County
Clauson, John 1 male Stevens Prairie, Dunn County
Classon, A. 7 males 1 female Magnolia, Rock County
Asa, Caleb & John could be son's of John Closson b. 1791
July 1999 Carol Munns suggested that Aslack could be Asmeth also a son of
John Closson b. 1791.
I have been assured by various people in Dunn County that there has never
been a Stevens Prairie in Dunn County. The enumerator for the Stevens
Prairie 1855 census is Elijah Stevens. I am speculating that he named the
area for himself and later it was changed. I have been working on this
mystery since 1995. Could someone help me learn where these people were in
1855? The census clearly shows Dunn County.
Does anyone have any idea if these Closson's are connected and how to the
Caleb Closson and the Spencer sister's?
I checked the 1860 census for Dunn County line by line, there are no Closson
of any spellings listed. This leads me to think they did not stay in Dunn
County very long, if they were even there.
Also, would some kind person help me learn who the A. Closson/Classon in
Magnolia Township, Rock County might be?
Thank you for your time.
