QRYTEXT: I am the Stamford town coordinator for the Fairfield County
Connecticut USGENWEB Project website. Our goal is to help people who are
researching their ancestors who came from Fairfield County. My focus is
specifically on Stamford. Does anyone have a website with genealogical data for
the family of Stephen Clason, one of the original settlers of Stamford?
Preferably, this genealogy should include ALL the children and spouses (and
inlaws, where known) for at least three generations, but the more the better.
We would like to be able to link our site to yours if you agree. Or if you
don't have a website, can you send a gedcom or text file? Thank you on behalf
of the USGENWEB Project, generously hosted by Rootsweb.

> Dear Barbara and All:
I so seldom check my e-mail at this address (my main e-mail is at
BERRYMOON(a)hotmail.com), and I only read my CLOSSON digest once every couple of
weeks. Life has been too busy this summer! I am a CLAWSON descendant of John
Clawson, died circa1813-14 and Massey Harris of Berkley County, VA-nowWV. This
LUCE caught my attention, and as I read further, I believe I have a connection to
this Lewis Clawson. I have a many-greats uncle Lewis Jefferson Clawson (son of
Isaac who was one of John's sons)who was born 1806 in Martinsburg, Virginia and
migrated to Alton, IL. I believe some of his sons settled in SC and NC with
cousins, my ancestors. The LUCE and CLAWSON connection is quite documented and I
will have to look bck through some of my correspondence from a couple of years ago
with another Clawson-Luce descendant. Please forward me your friend's address and
I will contact her.Patti Clawson Berry

Hi, again,
A girl at work gave me an informal family history, with no backup data,
as the family isn't into genealogy yet, and I just realized it had Clawsons
in it. I believe this family history is in the Penn - NJ area, but no
places were given. I believe some of the info is from the Luce Family
Bible, and this is the family that connects with these Clawsons. I am only
starting with the earliest Clawson mentioned, but if anyone can connect &
wants earlier Luce info, please e-mail me at taysmi(a)sparta.csnet.net.

Dear Clawson/CLOSSON List Members:
I came across a couple of CLAWSON names while searching for my
Taylors:
Cemetery Records from the Town of Onondaga, Onondaga Co., NY
>From Centinel Heights Cem, Plot # 24 - birth & death dates unknown"
Barney Clawson
Onondaga Valley Cem, Plot # 1-130-5, b, unkn, d. 28 Mar, 1936

Not much, but the list has been quiet, and since my CLOSSON people were
listed as CLAWSON, it could be helpful. Barbara Taylor
Hi Closson Listers,
Things have been quite quiet on the Closson list lately. Personally I had
the priviledge to have two Closson Cousins visit. It was great. Although
we had exchanged many emails and much information, we had never met in
person but I felt that I already knew both Barbara from New Jersey and
Carol from Minnesota. They are from the Caleb branch of the Josiah Closson
family and were researching Canadian roots in the Brockville area. Perhaps
they will share their experiences?
We had a wonderful time looking at books, pictures, sharing stories. We
even tossed around the idea of a Closson reunion sometime, open to all
Clossons, Clawsons, Clausons, etc.
Rootsweb, who provide the computers and know-how for these maillists, have
allowed us space on the GenConnect Boards. These are boards that connect
to other Closson genealogical resources such as Surname lists, ship lists,
messeges, queries, wills, Bibles and so forth. You are encouraged to look
these over (they are pretty much empty now) and use the Rootsweb facilities
to post information, queries, and so on. Please contact me if you have any
questions.

Hi Clossons
I am a descendant of Charles C. Closson that probably is a son of Caleb or
John Closson. To help prove who Charles father is I need a copy of the 1850
census for the Closson family or families that were in Magnolia Township,
Rock Co. WI.
Perhaps some of you may find the following of interest.
Charles C. Closson b: 30 Mar 1850 either near Prairie du Chein WI or
Magnolia Twp., Rock Co. WI. His parents were either Jedadiah or John or
Caleb Closson and Susan Barth or Tryphena Spencer. He liked to call himself
"the big dane".
He married Florence Augusta Watson on 3 Nov 1870, in Sauk Centre, Stearns
Co., MN. Witnesses were: R. W. Tillen and E. B. Classen or Classon.
Their children were:
1. George Edward Closson b: 29 Nov 1873 near Norton Center, Norton Co. KS or
Furnas Co. NE. He died 21 Jan 1962 San Bernardino, San Bernardino Co., CA.
2. Charles Willis Closson b: 13 Feb 1878 probably Beatrice, Gage Co. NE. He
died 14 Feb 1878 probably Beatrice, Gage Co. NE.
3. Cornelia Augusta Closson b: 8 Mar 1881 Lincoln, Lancaster Co., NE. She
died Apr 1965 probably near Empire, Coos Co. OR.
It is quite possible that this Charles C. Closson is the son of Caleb
Closson or that he is the son of John Closson who may be the son of Caleb. I
think a copy of the 1850 census would be of great value in determining who
Charles' father is. If any of you have this census, I would like to have a
copy and am willing to pay any reasonable costs you might incur to send it
to me.
Also, I have been trying to contact Sharon Weinberger and it seems she is
trying to contact me. If she reads this I hope she will contact me.
Thank you,
