Hi Karin,
Just picked up your post and have corrected my family tree accordingly. I didn't know your mother, even though she was my second cousin, but please accept my sincere condolences on her death.
Best wishes
Tim Geary

I am a cousin to Robyn and have the same great great grandfather that she has, Andrew Close. born 18 Feb 1806 in Balleny, Dromore, County Down, Ireland. He married Frances Glen on 19 Mar 1826 in Kircubbin, Down, Ireland. They had several children born to them in County Down, Ireland. as follows: John, Anne, Mary, Andrew, Frances (my geat grandmother), Robert and Elizabeth Close. Andrew's parents were Thomas and Mary (Thompson) Close According to Frances Close's obituary, .Frances Close was born in Dromore, County Down, Ireland. She moved with her parents to Philadelphia, Pa., and later to Canada, where she was married to Thomas Watson. To this union was born eleven children. They moved to Arran Township, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. Her obituary does not state if her parents moved with them to Canada from Philadelphia.. Only one that I could see where John Close and Andrew Close were in the household in one of Canadian census. They moved to Canada
about 1856. They homesteaded (crown deeded) about 100 acres. Some of this Close family stayed in Canada, some moved to Michigan, some to Kansas and a family to North Dakota. I have kept track of this family over the years since 1986. I believe that Andrew Close had a sister by the name of Elizabeth Close born 20 Jun 1794 in Dromore Parish, County Down, Ireland. As far as who she married was Thomas Montgomery in County Down, Ireland on 29 Sep 1817. If Andrew Close's father had some brothers I have not found them yet in Ireland. The name Andrew is passed down in the family. Thomas Close (Andrew's father) may had afew brothers, I have not found out who they are yet. I have found out that the name Close is a very common name, even though a lot of them are not related to us. I hope some of this answered your questions.
What is interesting my great great grandfather John Watson married a Mary Wilson. They were both from Scotland. Her fathers name was John Wilson who married a Jean Allan in 1810 in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, Scotland. They had several children. Thomas, Mary, James, Margaret and Jane. They were all born in Scotland, but moved to Bruce County, Ontario, Canada.
