Hi Nanci, Yes, I have a Julia Close marrying John, The Laudenklos name has a lot of different spellings in the historical documents. The first link I made was ' Londengloss' also found same family as laudenklos, Londenglos and Landenglos. I have John's parents as Jacob b. 1857, Calumet, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and Kate Neilson or Nillessen, b. 1861 Wis.
Jacob and Kate were married 12 Sep 1877. Both sets of parents were from Germany.
So here is what I have as my most current info.
Julia Close was b. May 1873 in Lebanon, Waupaca, Wisconsin to Josiah (Joseph) Close (b. about 1822, New York)/ and Melinda Wilson (b, 1857 - d. 31 May 1877 Lebanon, Waupaca, WI) Julia married Huey L (Henry) Sibley 1 Nov 1894 in Mukwa, Waupaca, Wisconsin. Henry was born in 1851 in Massachusetts, died 5 January 1927 Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co, WI. Their children were Pearl Sibley b. July 1895 / Florence, b. Feb 1896 / Alice b. 1897, d. before 1900 / Henry Jr b. Apr 1900, d. July 1900.
Julia married John Laudenklos 21 Jan 1903 in Shiocton, Outagamie, Wisconsin. I have not looked further into their descendents.
Josiah (Joseph) Close married Elizabeth Lunger in about 1847 in New York. Their children were Ezinah b. 1848-? /Jeremiah (Jerry) 1852 - 1933 / John 1853 - 1925 / Willard Close 1855 -? Was listed as blind in 1870 census / Joseph E Close 1861 - 1917 ( He was born in Lebanon, Waupaca, Wisconsin, the other children all were born in New York, I believe in Tompkins and or Broom County).
It seems Elizabeth had another son William Lunger, born 1863 in New York. In the 1880 US census Elizabeth is listed In New York as head of house, b. 1826, New York, age 54, living with William age 17, works in coal yard. Perhaps she did not like living out west and went back to New York either while she was carrying William, or he was born to a different father. On Josiah's side of my search in one reference, Elizabeth died about 1861, (which is the year Josiah's last claimed child, son Joesph was born in Wis... )
In 1872 at age 50 Josiah married Melinda Wilson. She was 15, Julia was born in May 1873. She died 31 May 1877 at age 20. . . I have found no other children.
In the 1880 Census (Lebanon, Waupaca, Wisconsin) Josiah was listed as widowed, living with his 6 year old daughter Julia.
Josiah's father was Reuben Close, b. 1783 in Ulysses, Delaware County New York. He died 12 Mar 1866, buried in Northport Cemetery, Waupaca Co, Wisconsin.
He married Deborah Webb, b. 1792 in France. Their children were Jeremiah 1809-? / William 1810-? / Elizabeth 1815-? / Josiah 1822 / Jonathan 1824 - 14 May 1862 / Thomas 1831- 5 Jul 1912
That is the end of my progress up this Close line, Reuben is my maternal great x 3 grandfather. I suspect His father /grand fathers' names may be Reuben and Benjamin. My Closes left Wisconsin and came to the Great Falls Montana area before 1920.
Hope this helps you out, of course all the above is subject to correction, but it is the product of much cross-referencing.
Bill

Hi Robyn--
Are you still active online re: the Close family? I don't remember if we've been in touch before, but I'm pretty sure our families overlap somehow. The Andrew Close in my tree was born in Co. Down in 1804, I believe. I don't know who his parents are, but I suspect he may have been a cousin of your Andrew? My Andrew married Elizabeth Wilson, and had the following children: Robert, Jane, Andrew, Elizabeth and Hugh Wilson Close. Andrew the father (I believe) died in Kircubbin in 1856. Do you know when/where your Andrew died? I am descended from Andrew the son. They emigrated to Scotland. Anyway, let me know if you have more info that might give me some more clues! Thanks so much!
Heather Close (Munoz)

Am going to assume from your post, that you are researching the CLOSE family genealogy. Going to Texas is great, but as you suspect, the name does not ring any bells in my CLOSE family research.
The CLOSE family that I am researching centers in Chesterton and Whiting, Indiana.
Do you have any CLOSE family in those towns????
The CLOSE family and SCHOLZ family are connected, I have a very thin thread that would like to expand if possible. My Great Uncle and a CLOSE family member were in business in Whiting, Indiana years ago.
If connection possible, contact me at:
