I have a Mary Close who is my gg-grandmother. She apparently married a
Hugh McShane sometime between 1848-1850 since her first daughter was
Elizabeth b. 1851.
Found them [ Hugh and Mary] in a graveyard 3 miles South of Kircubbin
and always wonder whether anyone else may be tied to them since their
children were born
between 1851 and 1869 - Elizabeth, Mary , Mary, Margaret, Michael,
Maryann, Robert, and Catherine.
Know that Elizabeth, Margaret, Michael, Maryann, and Robert all
appeared in Passaic, N.J. with all but one being buried in the same
Lodi Cemetery, while Dover, N.J. is apparently where Michael is buried.
If you can add any CLOSE Roman Catholic heritage to fill me in on,
please do so now.
Bill

I have a John Close (who is my grgr-grandfather). He came from Belfast,
Ireland
w/
two daughters (Adelade b: abt 1849/50 and Rachel b: 34 May 1855).
Both were
born in Belfast, Ireland to John and Maryann (giddenby) Close. Rachel
married
Thomas Jess and Adelade married John Coughtree.
I have no idea where John and 2 girls came into the USA, but they
settled in
Schenectady, New York.
Hope this might help you. I have hit a brick wall on the CLOSE'S, but
found
Rachel's
mothers name on her Marriage record.
