Hello Again! It seems the message I posted a few weeks ago about Lemuel Didymus Close was a bit confusing. Here it is again, hopefully a little easier to understand: I am looking for information about Lemuel Didymus Close, his father (William Lewis or Lewis William), and his grandfather (born in Prussia, settled in Missouri). Lemuel was b. 20 Dec 1881, probably in MO. He married Gracie May Clay on 21 Oct 1909, probably in MO. He died in a mining accident on 20 Feb 1920 in MO. Lemuel's parents were William Lewis (or Lewis William) Close and Nancy Evelyn Henry. Lewis and Nancy appear in the 1876 Missouri State Census for Madison County as Louis Cloze and N.E. Close. They are listed in the 1880 Federal Census as William Close (age 25, born in MO) and Nancy Close (age 27, born in MO). Again they live in Madison County, MO. According to this census (1880), William Lewis' (or Lewis William's) father comes from Prussia and his mother from MO. Property records dated 25 Jul 1898 list
Nancy Evelyn as widow living Ironton, MO. It's confusing because both William Lewis (or Lewis William) and Nancy Evelyn (Lemuel's parents) seemed to use their first and middle names interchangably. Their granddaughter knew them as Lewis and Evaline. In any case, if this family sounds familiar to anyone, thank you for any help you can offer. I appreciate your time. Janet
