saw your msg on the close board which i had an alert for. looking for anyone who has anything on a Mary Close married to Henry Mehren in LaCrosse Wisconsin in the 1870's.
I apologize for having sent misinformation before. Apparently
InoculateIt.Com Personal Edition (free) was discontinued back the first part
of June - I was not aware of this. I searched their site, and they have
partnered with E-Trust and there is an alternative. There is a price
attached, though - it's $19.95 for the first year and then 9.95 for each year
you stay subscribed. But you are able to try it for free for 60 days. I
apologize for any confusion or problems this may have caused - I was only
wanting to help. Good luck!
<<Last night I received an e-mail which was directed to the genealogy world
that had a virus in it. Thank heavens I was suspicious and scanned it with
my Norton first.
I erased it so fast that I forgot to write down everything about it, but it
had an attachment that had a .pif extension. The message was labled
something to the effect of Surnames--F. Sender's name was Anna or Anne B.
King. Body of the message was unsigned, asking for my asistance.
This was a worm type virus and very destructive. I got a message from
someone else this morning who received a similar message, but with a
different subject line. Her's had a subject line asking for her help.
Be careful and very suspicious of anything with an attachment from someone
you do not know!>>
I know I may get some heat for forwarding this but feel that it is important
and I want to share a great antivirus program, too. Go to
www.inoculateit.com It's free and best of all, you can set it to stop you
from opening anything that is suspected to be infected. It has caught two
viruses and a worm on ours. We have never been infected in almost three
years. You can also set it to remind you to auto-download the virus updates
as often as you want. We have ours set at once a week because,
between 4 of us (including two teenagers), we get a lot of email, so we might
actually ought to bump it up to twice a week. Good luck!
Debra,
I have been searching for a Johnathon (Jonathan?) Close, born June 16, 1803.
He lived in Tioga or Tompkins County, New York in the Southern Tier close to
the PA line. He married Eliza Sager and they both died in the late summer
of 1834, leaving 4 small children. I haven't been able to connect him to
the New England Close family, even though several of them migrated to the
Finger Lakes area.
The two daughters both turned up in Ohio marrying men living there. I have
not been able to determine how or why they got to Ohio. One was my
ancestor, Rachel Eliza Close, born 1830. She married Romeyn Floyd Morse.
Her sister was Mary Ann Close, born 1826, and she married Jonathan Hull.
Both these girls married in Huron County, Ohio.
Anything ring a bell?

I'm looking for parents and ancestors of John Frederick Close Born 1/19/1839 died 9/22/1908 married to Amy Mead Husted born 6/18/1841-5/2/1888. They had Frederick Warner Close married to Sarah Elizabeth Husted. they had 4 children Amy, Agnes, John and Emily (my grandmother). Can't seem to find any info on John Closes parents. Any help would be appreciated. Thans- Debi
I am related to Edwin and Mariah. They had a daughter named Isabelle that married Charles W Moshier from Pa. They in turn had a daughter Leona May, who was my grandmother on my fathers side. How are you related to them?
Mike,
I am far from a Close expert but I have a brick wall in Jonathan Close in
Tioga/Tompkins County, so I've collected some data.
That shows a Deborah Close (no details) as a child of Jabez Close and his
first wife, Abigail Smith. Two things look like these could be your girl's
parents - location and time frame. Jabez lived in Scipio, Cayuga County,
NY. I believe Genoa is in that county also. Deborah had two siblings born
in the 1780s, so I presume she was also. Her mother died in 1788. That
would make Deborah 24-34 in 1812 when your Hannah was born.
I have Jabez Close's ancestry back forever if you want it.

Hi list,
Are any of your ancestors from South Carolina. My Great Grandfather was from
South Carolina, ... or so the census says. I have not been able to find him
there. His name was Frank Close. He was born in 1852. If anyone has relatives
in this area around that time or has some information that may be of help please
let me know. He lived in Georgia until 1909 which I think is about the time he
died. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks

Researching the siblings and descendants of George H.N.Close(b.18 Feb 1886, Hamilton, Ontario). He was raised in Chicago, graduated from Chicago College of Dental Surgery and married Marguerite Petrie 1911, practicing dentistry in Chicago until 1930. Only other data discovered: Texas birth records for Cameron County lists the birth of George Edward Close (16 Jan 1932) with George H.N.Close and Anna Jessie Leonardson as parents.
Sorry Allan,
My Mary Margaret was born in 1879 and my mother is positive that Harvey was the name not Harold. If I find any connection later on I will let you know...Thanks for the input!

I am looking for information on Ira Edwin or (Ira Edward) Close. I belive His fathers name is James Close David's son. All that I know for shure is that he was born in Parsons WV. Tucker Co. in 1889. I have a lot of information from Ira on down but stops with him. I am willing to share anything that i have. My father told me his nickname was Curly and he rembers an Aunt Gertrude. He could have been maried before my grandmother and also afterwards. His children's names are Ida, James, William, Rollie (my father),Lue,Ann, and David. Ida James and David have passed away now. Ida and James were the only ones who knew anything about the Close side of the family. If you have any information on James Close I would greatly apreciate it. Thank's alot Rollie.

Rose:
I have a Margaret Close (b.2 Jun 1899, Chicago) the youngest daughter of George John Close (b. 30 Nov 1859, Hamilton, Ontario, d. 23 Feb 1925, Chicago) and Kathleen (Kate) Gibson (b.16 Aug 1866, Hamilton, d.9 Feb 1916, Chicago). This family appears to have lived on the economic edge and become dysfunctional after Kathleen’s death. There is some circumstantial evidence that Margaret may have been placed in an orphanage. I have never found any record of Margaret after the 1900 Census. The two oldest children, George H.N. Close and Harold (Harry) Close, lived to adulthood but Margaret’s two sisters, Isabella and Eleanor, died in childhood. Is it possible that “Harvey” is, in fact, “Harry” Close? Do you see any connections?
Regards
Allan Close
