I have just found out that part of our CLOSE family lived in Streator, LaSalle Co., Illinois.
They are as follows:
William CLOSE b: 1863 Ont.Canada d: 30 May 1945 Streator, ILL. bur: Riverside Cemetery, Streator, Illinois.
Sophia (DIXON) CLOSE (wife) b: 1869 England d: 1951 bur: Riverside Cem.
Gertrude CLOSE (daughter) b: abt 1896 Illinois
George CLOSE (son) b: abt 1900 Illinois
Grace CLOSE (daughter) b: 1910 Illinois
They were married in Livingston Co. Illinois, on 22 Aug 1894. William worked at a hardward store in Streator as a salesman, for years.
Does anyone recognize this family? If so, I would love to hear from you.

My Great Granduncle, Mead B. Spurgeon, (son of Zephaniah Spurgeon and Marinda Close) was I believe named after Henry Mead Close his Granduncle. I have the following on Henry Mead Close.
4. HENRY MEAD4 CLOSE (BENJAMIN3, SAMUAL2, BENJAMIN1) was born December 26, 1785 in Greenwich, Fairfield, Conneciticut, and died August 11, 1846. He married (1) CLARISSA KNAPP 1810 in Genoa, Cayuga County, New York. He married (2) MARY MOE December 20, 1813 in Greenwich, Fairfield, Conneciticut.
Children of HENRY CLOSE and MARY MOE are:
i. HENRY MEAD5 CLOSE.
ii. BENJAMIN CLOSE.
iii. SUSAN MOE CLOSE.
iv. ESTHER CLOSE.
I just recently found what the B. in Mead B. Spurgeon stands for. Brundage. This comes from a Granddaughter of Mead Brundage Spurgeon so it is reliable.
Today a researcher sent the following information on Henry Mead Close.
vii. HENRY MEAD CLOSE, b. June 29, 1763, Greenwich, Fairfield County, Conneciticut; d. August 17, 1873; m. ROSINA BRUNDAGE; b. July 04, 1763
Now I have a couple of questions. First how many people named Henry Mead Close are there and who was the first? Next does anyone have any additional information on the Brundage connection? Any assistance will be appreciated. Don Coatney

I am looking for information about an Abigail Close, prob. b. Jul 9, 1772, who later married a Jeremiah Lockwood and lived in Greene Co., IN. A Jeremiah Lockwood was in the Greene Co. area when Indiana became a state (ca. 1818) but I don't know if it was the same Jeremiah or if he was married at that time.
Jeremiah and Abigail had two daughters, Penelope and Parilla--both of whom later married Adam Stropes--as well as other children.
Any clues/info would be appreciated.
Thanks.
I am researching this gent who became a tailor in Worcestershire and was
subsequently convicted of a petty offence and transported to Van Diemans
Land.
Does any one have a similar interest or has information on the CLOSE family
in Worcestershire or that family (CLEWSE and other variations in Newcastle
under Lyme.

Hello all Close researchers;
My friend Ginger White and possible cousin and fellow
researcher is happy to assist. Enjoy, Don Coatney
Ginger; May I share this with the Close mailing list? Can I
share other
family names (Coatney, Hazzard, Morgan, etc) with the
appropriate mailing lists?
Thanks, Don
Don, Absolutely!! It's online at a couple of different
locations. Also, I'm happy to copy
pages from the original for them. Ginger ginger.white(a)att.net
