i have found more Cloer's located in North Carolina. I have found them in Franklin and in Bryson City.
I have also found a cemetery in Holly Springs, GA (near where I work) that has several Clore/Cloer's in it. The lady that I spoke with said that on her list of headstones, she has (C.L. Jr. & Martha Cloer, Rev. C.L. Cloer, Sr., Charles K. & Ruth Cloer, Hubert & Lassie Cloer, Stephen & Tammy Cloer, and Timothy Wayne Cloer.) I saw the headstone of Hubert & Lassie. They were married on 4-4-1959. Hubert was born in 1934 (still alive, i think) and Lassie was born in 1933 and died in 2005.

Thomas,
In my last message I forgot to mention that there are documented Clore/Glore descendants of 1717 Germanna immigrant Michael Clore in Georgia. All of the Clores are descendants of William Mason Clore who moved to Cass/Bartow Co., GA from Laurens District, SC about 1837. The Glores are descendants of George W. Clore/Glore who moved from Madison Co., VA to Georgia about 1790.

Thomas,
In another post you mention your great-grandfather Elisha Clore. Do you have your line back further than this? All of the Elisha Cloer/Clores in my database are NOT descendants of the 1717 immigrant Hans Michael Klaar aka Michael Clore of Spotsylvania/Culpeper/Madison Co. Virginia. They are widely reported (with no documentation) to be descendants of a Michael Clore and wife __ Roseman (daughter of Jacob Roseman). This Michael in turn is widely reported (with no documentation) to be the son of George Clore, son of the 1717 immigrant Michael Clore.
So far I have not been able to verify the existence of this Michael Clore nor a link to the descendants of 1717 Germanna Colonist Michael Clore (Hans Michael Klaar). The list of his children I have is from other researchers and also has not been verified to one set of parents. My research has yielded nothing definitive but rather it appears that the connections are speculation based on similiar surnames and no proof of any relationship. Given the age of his purported first child, Jacob, this Michael Clore (if that was his name) from North Carolina could NOT have been the grandson of the same name of the Germanna Michael Clore.
At least one researcher of the Cloer family thinks they may have been in the Shenadoah Valley of Virginia before they moved to NC but I don't have any documentation for that either.
All I can recommend at this point is keep digging. Don't get focused on the Culpeper/Madison County, Virginia Clore family but look for clues in North Carolina. There may indeed be a connection that hasn't been discovered but don't let that possibility keep you from looking in other directions. As a serious researcher of the Clore family, I have an interest in your Cloer family as well. So if you ever find more information, please let me know and if I find anything I will be sure to post it on the Clore and Cloer message boards for the benefit of all researchers of both families.
What I have found related to the NC family:
Iredell County, North Carolina was formed from Rowan County, North Carolina in 1788.
Cesus records searched by me personally page by page.
Iredell County, North Carolina 1790 Federal Census searched, neither Clore nor Roseman (or similar surnames) found.
Rowan County, North Carolina 1790 Federal Census searched, found a George Roseman and a William Rossom but Clore or similar surname not found.
Iredell County, North Carolina 1800 Federal Census searched, no Clores or similar surnames found.
Lincoln County, North Carolina 1800 Federal Census searched, Jacob Clore found but not Michael.
North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1741-1868
James Abernathy and Elizabeth Clore, bond date 4 Jan 1803, Lincoln Co., bondsman Andw Cline (made his mark)
Field Bradshaw and Nancey Cloer, bond 6 Feb 1811, Lincoln Co., bondsman Robert Haskins, witness Danl M Forney
Lincoln County, North Carolina 1810 Federal Census
Capt. John Deer's District, p 499
Mich'l Cloer 1 male age 45 and over
1 female age 16-25
1 female age 45 and over
Good luck with your search! Cathi

Lena,
I am one of the descendants of Michael Klaar/Cloer/Clore of the 1717 group. We've been researching for several years and have found quite a few more branches hanging on to the Clore Family Tree. (Ha Ha). From the information we've gathered, our direct line goes from Georgia to Virginia and from there "aboard" a immigration ship that came from Germany, via England. (That's another story in itself.) We love sharing and talking to other Clore relatives and learning more about our family history. We have a reunion that takes place here in Blue Ridge, GA the first Saturday of June every year. (E-mail me for more info on that. papabear30513(a)yahoo.com). Any info that you have would be greatly appreciated. I am willing to share information, too.
Thank you.

Cathi,
We've been researching the Clore lineage for over 6 years. We believe we have found (what we believe) to be Clore lineage dated back to the 1630's and have come across several different branches of the Clore family since then. We are trying to put together in book form the information that we have. Any information or suggestions that you have would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much.

Sherry,
I am the author of the Clore book which covers the first four generations of the family in America. I donated the manuscript to the Germanna Foundation and they publish it. I receive no proceeds from the sales, they go directly to the Foundation, which is nonprofit, to help fund the daily operations. They have a nice visitor center if you are ever in the Culpeper/Fredericksburg, Virginia area (it's in between). Their website is www.germanna.org. The publications link is on the left side of their home page. It is Germanna Record #16 and sells for $35. Thanks for your interest!

My name is Cynthia Moss. My maternal grandmother was Ella Clore (Bryant). Her father was Alfred Elisha Clore, his father was Humphrey Posey Clore, his father was Elijah B. Clore. That is as far as I have been able to trace back. I have been told that we are all decendants of the same Michael Clore/Klor/Cloer who came over from Germany in 1717. If anyone has any information, please email me at cindymoss(a)bellsouth.net. Thanks!

This is an old post so I don't know if my reply will make it to you. John and Ella (Clore) Bryant were my maternal grandparents. I'm working on my family tree and came across your post. I have quite a bit of information, dating back to around 1800. Please email me if you receive this.
