Hi all,
Would love to have my Michael Clooney & his wife Mary to dinner.
First would want to know all about his family & all about where & how they lived in Callon,Ireland & if he was the only family member to come to Australia. & was Melbourne the only place he had lived since leaving Ire.
Seeing he didn't marry Mary till age 31, [age on marr cert ] was he married previously like Mary.
There would be lots of other questions, but these will do for now...
Sandra Morrison....in Oz.
Well, it my American family back to 1845 or so, the spelling has been
Clooney, Cluney, and Cluney. I have found that even between siblings, when the
parents died, spellings were changed among at least the brothers, Clooney and
Cluney brothers in western NYS. All were within a horse ride from one another
and my original immigrant great grandparents David Clooney(later in census
records-Cluney) and Mary Fitzgibbon had 9 children; some of whom died by
accident, illness, etc., some in their teens. I guess I would like to speak with
David to find out more, why he and his wife came separately and what his
childhood, parents and other family were like I would also like to know more about
original migration to Cork from other places I know of.------Donna Cluney

My ancestor that I would invite to Thanksgiving would be my great grandfather James Patrick Cluney b. Feb, 1855 Baltimore, MD. My reason for this is that when my grandmother (Julia Genevieve Cluney Sheldon)would speak about him it was always with glassy eyes and a happy heart, so he must have been someone very special. My questions would be, why did your parents, Robert Cluney b. 1824 and Margaret Fallon Cluney b. 1935 (both born in Ireland), come to the United States and from what county in Ireland did they come? I know I would have many many more questions, but those are the two most important to me.

Those of us in the USA will soon be celebrating
Thanksgiving. Listmembers, if you could have one of your ancestors
with this surname join you for Thanksgiving dinner, which ancestor
would you invite? What questions would you ask him/her?
Please send a post to <Clooney(a)rootsweb.com> telling us about this
ancestor - and please remember to include dates and locations.
