I recently obtained this reference while researching another family line
- the Elders.
15 Oct 1774 Tyrone Co., NC, 2, 67-68, Lewis (Ludwig) Linebarger sells
to Wm Elder and Samuel Elder 200 acres on the east side of Kuykendall's
Creek.
20 Feb 1777 Tyrone Co., NC., 2, 566-567, William Elder and Samuel Elder
of Tyrone Co., NC, sell to Adam Cloniger those 200 acres.
This would be Johann Adam Cloninger who married Maria Magdelena Rhyne
and Lewis Lineberger of the three Lineberger brothers, Peter, Lewis, and
John who came to America in probably the mid 1700s.
Peter Lineberger (however you want to spell it) married Betsy Cloninger
2 Sep. 1836 and moved to TX. I don't think this was the original Peter.
Michael Lineberger married Peggy Cloninger. Betsy and Peggy were
daughters of Adam Cloninger, Jr. and Susannah Clemmer.
Margaret Linebarger married Jacob Cloninger, Jr. on January 16, 1847 in
Lincoln Co., NC. Tyrone County, NC, no longer exists. I don't know if
part of it became Lincoln County or not.
My questions are these:
1. Does anyone know if any Cloningers married any Elders?
2. Does anyone have any information on any of the Lineberger, barger,
burgers? I am particularly interested in Margaret's parents and if she
ties into one of the three immigrant brothers?
