Hello,
?Well, guess I'm tired from the Christmas activities-but my GM was a Clinton---and they did live in KS when she was in her late teens-- She was from the family of TZ Clinton whose wife was Harriet "Hattie"------and one of her three sisters was Florence-who married and lived in Scammon KS for many years.??? Thomas Zachariah Clinton's GF came form KY-and I'm pretty sure that John B (his father) was born in KY-Christian Co sounds very familiar.
?One cousin-----her ggf was TZ's brother John Randolph-----and Joanne Truman who lived in TX and I worked on this line for over 10 or 15 years....We had John B (lived in Jackson Co., ILL but born in KY------father Zachary Clinton in KY- etc.????
So, if you think you've heard of them-and BTW my GM was Maude Clinton--------TZ and Hattie's other children were,Harry (drowned at 11 years) Maude, Florence, Margaret, Mary Anna and William "Willie"-----Brother Will (as my GM called him) married another Hattie and they moved to Calif where they lived with their two daughters Mona Claire? and Nadine..believe they all died out there.
Just FYI????? and they were also in Pittsburg, KS---Baxter Springs KS.......TZ and Hattie went to Ark for a little while but in later years went back up to KS-and are buried there.
Marg. in PA

I will send you copies of the documents next week when I return home. It does
reference the date of James Maxey's death, but not the place, but I believe it
was Vernon County. He died after the war of "pulmunary consumption" at age 32.
It may reference Harriet's date of death but I will have to check. She may
well have died in Oklahoma as her daughter Florence was married to Connell
Booker and they owned a drug store in Dewey, OK. I will re-check, but I do not
believe any of the documents I have reference Willis or Mary.

Does anyone have information on the Clintons of Cumberland, MD who were in
the War of 1812 and the possible connection to the Clintons of Fayette
County, Pennsylvania who were in the Revolutionary War? Both were Fifers in
each war so I'm sure there's a connection.

Thank you very much for your posting. How interesting that you have
original documents!! I would love to see copies of the family Bible pages
you reference as well as the letter from James Maxey to his wife. Does the
Bible by any chance have the death date/place for James P. Maxey? I think
Harriet Clinton Maxey Requa died 13 Oct 1908 in Indian Territory (OK) after
she and Edward Requa moved there; does the Bible confirm this? Also, does
it have anything at all on birth dates/death dates for Willis Alfred James
Clinton and his wife, Mary (Polly) Brown Clinton, who reared Harriet after
her mother died? You can reach me directly by email if you would like to
at joanbusiness-genealogy @ yahoo.com. Thank you for your reply!

I have some information which may be beneficial. I am the great grandson of Lizzie Maxey, wife of Dr. W.P. Booker and daughter of James P. and Harriet Maxey. I have some pages from a family bible passed down from Lizzie. Many of the entries appear to be in the handwriting of James P. Maxey (comparing it to a letter he wrote to Harriet during the civil war). The entries show three children from the marriage of B.J. Clinton and Harriet (Cummins) Clinton. The third of these children is Harriet Clinton, born November 30, 1839. Also, under the record of births is the following entry: "BJ Clinton, father of Harriet Clinton, was born April 28th AD 1813".
I hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your reply. I have many questions and would like to be in contact with you directly about Clinton genealogy; if you agree, please email me at joanbusiness-genealogy @ yahoo.com. For example, do you know what happened to Willis Alfred Clinton? We assume he died during the Civil War in Vernon County, MO, but find no facts; do you know when he died and where he is buried? How and when did James Maxey die? He appears to have survived his service in the Civil War and lived to father another child with Harriet before he died and she married Edward Requa. Do you know what happened to the two sons of Willis Alfred Clinton and Polly Brown? We think Polly is buried in Mound Cemetery but the tombstone is almost illegible; do you know?? If you are the main B. J. Clinton family researcher, I would dearly love to hear from you and would be particularly interested in any family stories about the Clintons and their descendants. (I am a Brown family researcher!
.)
What you have told me confirms my first theory -- that Mary (Polly) Brown & Willis Alfred Clinton reared their infant niece after her birth mother died. What confused me was finding a Harriet in both households (with a bit of age difference) in that one census, and I am glad to hear from someone who has facts. Thanks again!

Harriet Clinton, third child of B.J. Clinton and and Harriet Cummins, was raised by her aunt and uncle, W.A.J Clinton and wife Mary "Polly" Brown. She was counted on the census as living in both households.
After the death of first husband James Maxey, she wed Edward Requa of Vernon Co. Edward and Harriet are on the 1880 Vernon Co., Mo., census.
The only children I have foe W.A.J and Mary are James b.1832 and Willis b.1834 both in Christian Co., Ky.
B. J. Clinton is my gg grandfather.
