Given the date on the original post I doubt you'll even see this, but I have to try. I have a Henry CLINTON, born Mornington approximately 1801. Henry was a coastguard man and served most of his career in England. There was at least one tour of duty in Co. Galway, as one of his children was born there. Henry married Margaret (nee HENCHY - various spellings in the records) and they had the following children:
Richard (b. ca. 1837 in Poole, Dorset)
Catherine (b. 1838 on the Isle of Wight)
John (b. 1840 on the Isle of Wight - my ggGrandfather)
William (b. 1843 in Breamore, Co. Galway)
James (b. 1844 in Rye, Sussex)
Margaret (b. 1846 in Rye, Sussex)
Mary (b. 1848 in Rye, Sussex)
This information came from the 1851 census, when the family lived at Martello Tower #55 in Bexhill, East Sussex. According to the census data, Henry was born in Mornington, although a later census records his place of birth as Drogheda, just upriver from Mornington.
I am stuck at Henry, and since I do not know his parents names I cannot push back further. The problem I am facing is that there are so many CLINTONs in that area, and also the parish records are supposedly missing.
If any of the info I've shared looks familiar, I'd love to compare notes. In case it helps, both Henry and his wife lived out the rest of their lives in Sussex, both passing away in Littlehampton. I haven't yet located their burial records, but I do believe they were both buried there. Coastguards were never stationed in the areas where they came from to avoid familiarity with the locals. I've read some awful stories about how dangerous the work was! When Henry served with H.M. Coastguard the service was engaged in smuggling prevention and not lifesaving.

Minneapolis Better Way, Ottawa County, Kansas, March 16, 1922, page 8:
Obituary -- Mrs. Martha Clinton
Martha Jane McGavran was born in Pike county, Ohio, June 7, 1850, and died in Tescott, kansas, Feb. 26, 1922, aged 71 years, eight months and nineteen days.
When a young woman, she with her parents moved to Edgar county, Ill. There she became acquainted with L.D. Clinton, to whom she was married Feb. 4, 1869. In the spring of 1877 with their family of three small children, they came to Kansas and located on a homestead in Saline county.
A few years later they moved to Ottawa county, near Tescott. Their home was headquarters for the pioneer circuit riders, and many a traveler was made welcome and given a good meal. They raised a large family of children, six of whom --- Mrs. Grant Crawford, Mrs. A.J. Raplee, Mrs. Daniel Giersch, Mrs. L.W. Neaderhiser, C.L. Clinton and Elmer Clinton, survive their mother and were with her during her last illness.
In their later life, Mr. and Mrs. Clinton moved to Tescott, where they lived until a year ago last November when they gave up their home in town, and went to live with their daughter Elsie, on the old home place.
In October, 1921, her husband passed away after a very short illness. Since then she has been very lonely and has felt her loss more than any one knew.
Mrs. Clinton united with the Christian church at an early age and lived a good Christian life. She was a good neighbor, a kind friend and a loving wife and mother. We would not call her back, for we feel sure she has gone to a better home. Funeral services were held at the Christian church at Tescott, Feb. 28, conducted by R.C. Harding of Salina, and the remains were laid to rest in the Franklin cemetery.
