I don't have those names on my tree as I only have Clintons from 1796 onwards and unfortunately, have none for earlier than that. I will make a note of the names you mentioned just in case they crop up in an earlier census.

Sorry for the delay but I checked with some cousins in order to cover as much ground as possible. We do agree that our 'Clinton's' all seem to come from one area in Co. Galway originating in the late 1700's. They farmed in an area that encompassed townlands such as Fohenagh, Lenaloughra, Clonbrock and Carrowreagh. All were tenant farmers. The common male given names were Patrick, James, Mark, Joseph, Matthew and Thomas. An earlier name was Malachy. The common female names were Mary, Bridget, Elizabeth, Honoria, Kathleen and Margaret. Their religion was Roman Catholic. Any connection?

I have been told that my father was once engaged to a Jean Clinton. She broke off the engagement because she wanted to become a concert pianist. This would have been in the early 1930s I think, probably in New York City. I would be interested to know what became of her, in particular, whether she did indeed become a successful pianist.
