Funny that you should say that about the parents dying and your John going with relatives to TN. I've thought the same thing about my Zachariah.
Happy hunting

Dear Ms. Clinton, Unfortunately I know little of my great-great-grandfather's early life. I think that he was born in Orange County, North Carolina. I think that his parents might have died early and he migrated with some aunt or uncle to Tennessee. Tim Bingham

Good afternoon
Would you happen to know if and how John Clinton was related to the Henry Clinton. They were neighbors in Bedford Co. TN - (I am thinking the 1810 census or maybe it was a tax list). Or was your John the son of one of the above?? Archibald Clinton was also in the area very early and has land records there. I am looking for family connections for my ggg gf Zachariah Clinton b. 1795 in SC, md Sarah Hanks in Nov 1821 in Hopkins Co. KY and d. 1859 in Jackson Co. IL. Zach named his oldest son John and the next one Henry, Sarah Hanks was from Davidson Co. TN. Zach is my brickwall Clinton person, so any clue would be appreciated.
Thanks Joanne

Hi I know that you were writing someone else on a different matter, but I am also of Clinton Lineage. But the reason for this reply is your last name. I have Bingham's on the other side of my house. I have Henry Bingham of KY and his daughter Mary Bingham of KY. This is the 1800's. Would love to hear from you if you have these people in your line.

I am trying to solve a mystery about Harriet Clinton and would like to contact researchers of Bennett J. Clinton's line. There were apparently two Harriet Clintons who were born to brothers about the same time in the same place; both brothers and their families moved to Vernon County, MO about the same time too. Willis Alfred & Mary Clinton had a daughter Harriet Clinton in Camden County, MO in 1839; Bennett Jackson & Harriet (Cummins) Clinton had a daughter Harriet Clinton in Camden County, MO in 1839; this Harriet's mother died a week later. In 1850 census, both families have a Harriet Clinton in the household. In 1860 only Willis Alfred Clinton has a Harriet in the household. In 1870 Vernon Co, MO Harriet (Clinton) Maxey is shown with her two daughters and her mother (Mary) in the household; both Harriet and Mary are apparently widowed as there is no man.
I believe the Harriet Maxey in the 1870 census is the daughter of Willis Alfred & Mary Clinton since she and her mother are living together. (She married widower, Edward Requa, soon after 1870.) However, other researchers have included this Harriet in their family trees as the daughter of Bennett Jackson Clinton. I would like to have any facts researchers have uncovered about these two Harriet Clintons which would prove or disprove that she is the daughter of Willis Alfred Clinton, not Bennett Jackson Clinton.
