I believe Robert J. must have been a descendant of Jonathan Clinton from SC.Jonathan's line went to MO and then OR. The Coos Genealogy Soc. published an article on this family some years ago. If you are interested in a copy, I'm sure you can contact them and get one.
Happy hunting
Joanne
Does anyone know about this guy?
I saw him listed as marrying a McCants in St. Helena Parish, South Carolina.
Is he related to Ruth McCance/McCants who married a Clinton in SC?

Hi Jean,
I just saw the message that you posted. I don't know if we are the same line but here is my Clinton info.
Malachy Clinton m. Catherine Noone in Ireland. They had the following children. John(my ggggrandfather) Bridget, Patrick(the one who married Margaret Mckeon and lived in Roxbury), Michael, Margaret and Rose.
The name Ellen Mooney appears on the marriage certificate for John, who married Bridget Hart in England in 1868. She was a witness.
Do you think there is a connection?
Can't wait to hear from you!
