My great. . . grandfather, Thomas Clinton, was born about 1760. Supposedly, he was born in England of Irish parents. He fought in the Revolution, I don't know if he came here by himself, or with his family. Has anyone found him to be related to their family? I would like to find out where in England he came from.
Attention; Arthur Clinton and Nettie Clinton
A While ago you wrote to me offering ro give me some of your info on the
Clintons. My ggrandfather was John Clinton. He was born in 1812 in
Pennsylvania ( I don't know where) He moved to St. Louis in 1843. He was a
shoemaker. Do you know who his parents were? I think his father was a
Presbyterian minister
Hope to hear from you. Gerry

I am looking for other descendants of my great grandmother, Ellen Frances Clinton (maiden name Kelley), who was born about 1865 in West Roxbury. She married James H. Clinton and together they had about 15 children and five foster children. Some of their children's names were Mary, Agnes, Helen, Edward, William, Charles, Philip, Geroge, Ruth, Josephine, Frances and Margaret. They lived in Roslindale on Hyde Park Avenue until the early 1900s. Does this ring a bell with anyone? I had one glance at a family tree, I know there are a lot of us out there.
Many thanks!
Joellen

According to The Clinton Genealogy by Guy Clinton, Harrington Clinton was one of three sons of Henry Clinton and the Eleanor Harrington, daughter of Sir James Harrington. The other two sons were Henry and Norreys. Henry the father of Harrington was the son of the Second Earl of Lincoln, also named Henry and his wife was Elizabeth Morrison, daughter of Sir Richard Morrison. The line is documented in the "Peerage and Baronetage" book. Guy Clinton has the line traced back to William De Tancredi who was chamberlain to the norman, William the Conqueror who conquered England in 1066 and gave the original lord Clintons their manors. .

There is a William Clinton in the 1830 Sevier County TN census who was 40-50 (1780-1790), his wife was 30-40 (1790-1800), and they had 6 children, one male <5(1825-1830), one male 5-10 (1820-1825), three females 5-10 (1820-1825), one female 15-20). This family seems to have disappeared by 1840.
There is also a John Clinton in Sevier Co. 1830 (age 20-30)who may have moved to Blount county TN by 1840 with 4 children. (John could be a brother or older son of William). All the Clinton's I have found after 1840 appear to be the age of John's children or younger. I have found no evidence of others who could belong to William, so I think his family left the area before 1840. Is there anyone out there who can identify this William? Thanks.
