Hi Doug, We haven't made contact for quite a while. We sure are related all around. We must be cousins on about all our branches. I haven't had much time for the last few months to play with this stuff, but we finally got our printing business sold again (2nd time) and are now fully retired again. Took a 5 week motorhome trip and were back in Indiana for a week, but by the time we visited family, didn't have time for anything else. Anyway, all the names of my ancesters I have been looking into are: Paternal line-- Dougherty, Christy,Clinton,& Flinn. Maternal line- Gaither, Wittig, & Mapes. I've also been trying to find any record of "Abbie Hanson, Hansen, or Houser". She was my Grandfather's 1st wife (no children). Haven't gotten anywhere with that. I still don't have the ability to e-mail my files, but we are working on that, so send me what you have on James Harvey and I'll let you know anything if it's all the same as mine. Also, let me know if you have anyth!
ing else on Henry & Delphine. Thanks! Janice

Hi Janice. Guess we're related through other families also. Henry Clinton was my ggg grandfather, through their son Samuel, who married Arnetta Chestnut. I'll have to look at our database when I get time and see if we have anything further prior to Henry Clinton and Delphine Herron.
Also, would like to share more info on the descendants of James Harvey Dougherty, to insure we are accurate compared to what you have.

I'm looking for info on Henry Clinton, b. abt. 1820's, died July 5, 1872. He married Delphine Herron. She died May 03, 1969. She was said to have come from "across the water". Their children were: Henry Clay, b. Oct. 09, 1844, d. Oct. 28, 1913; William, b. March 23, 1833; Samuel; Sarah (Smith?) & Nancy (Voody?). Henry & Delphine were my gggrandparents. Have no other information on Henry & Delphine except that they were probably lived in Lawrence Co. IN. Their children seemed to all live in Daviess Co. IN. as adults. Can any Clinton's out there help me find out the parents of Henry and his wife, Delphine? Janice Stafford <jan-don(a)msn.com

I am researching my Clinton family. My gg-grandfather Calvin Clinton was born in Sevier Tn around 1835. I believe his father was John Clinton, who was in the 1830 Sevier Co. census (just guessing, I have no verification). Also in 1830 there was a William Clinton who might have been brother or father to John. I have no record of my family prior to 1830, but the widow of a descendant of Calvin says that she heard her husband's ancestors came from Arkansas.
Census data tells me that Calvin's parents were born in Tennessee, so if that is correct I can guess that they probably moved from Arkansas to Tennessee at least before 1820, and probably some time after 1780 (the area was occupied primarily by Indians before that time). This seems odd to me, because I thought that most people were migrating west rather than east, but I have no other information to go on. I am not sure of their origin but I believe that most of the people in the family were fairly dark complected with dark hair and they also tended to be short and stocky in stature.
Does anyone out there know the history of any Clintons in Arkansas between 1780 and 1820? Thanks.

Is anyone researching the Orange County, NC Clintons?
In particular, I am trying to deterimine the following:
1. Who were Jesse Clinton's parents?
2. Who is the Isabella Clinton, age 19, listed in the widowed Rachel Vickers Clontin household in 1870.
3. How Jesse obtained the land he left his daughters (inheited or bought.)
I do not believe that Jesse was a son of Matthias/Matthre, but I do think they were closely related. Any thoughts?

My daddy Grady C. Clinton is alive and living in Florida. He and the rest of the Clinton family is from Sevierville, TN.
He had one sister, Ula, who has passed away (don't remember the date). He also had 3 brothers, Ralph, Ray and Hank. They have all passed away.
We have been trying to find out more about my dad's great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. Calvin was the great-grandfather. We don't know who Calvin's father was. I have a cousin who is trying to find out this information.
Good luck in finding information with your family.
