Have info from our cousin, Agnes Yetter, who is a daughter of John Wesley Clinton. She has info saying that our ggmother was Permelia Jane Collins Clinton born in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her father told her this much. GAunt Lilly was the oldest, my grandfather Clinton was Luther Martin, then John Wesley was born, finally Sarah Jane who married Dave Dollar. I have been in contact with Karlene from time to time and have her on my list of contacts on Yahoo Instant messenger. Perhaps we can share more later. Any other info sent this way would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know abt. a Dr. James Clinton who practiced "medicine" in Chester
Co. SC? He died in 1833 leaving Rebecca Clinton as administratrix. He
didn't leave a will and I have his probate file photocopies, with no obvious
mention of children.
thanks, Janice

I do not have their birth dates. Emma was born in North Carolina and John Clinton was born in New York, he was her 2nd husband. Her first was Thomas, John's brother.
Thomas and Emma had 2 children, Jeannette and Wm. Thomas. John and Emma had 3 children, John, Emma and Ed. I hope this helps.
I was just on E-bay and noticed the Howard C. Clinton book is on auction
if anyone is looking for it. The page to look is
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1543609249
It goes off auction on the 20th.

I have just uploaded my database for the Clinton Family genealogy that I have collected for both the descendants that I could find for Charles Clinton (1690-1773) who came to America on the ship 'George and Anne' and for Lawrence Clinton (b. abt 1643) and lived in Massachucetts. I have a lot of conflicting information so what I have may not be correct in many places, I usually left the first information that I found and put the conflicting information in the notes unless it was from a source document. I spent some time in New York doing much of this research, but also used the Connecticut Family Genealogy for much of the information on Lawrence's family. If any of you view this file and find information that you know to be wrong, I would appreciate you letting me know. The web site is:

I'm searching for info on Reina Paula Morris who married Eldridge Harris Clinton Jan 1911 - probably in Texas. I have a studio picture of Reina when she was a babe (1892 or so) and will exchange a copy for info on her. She is connected with surname Rawlins and Knapp, also. Annette
I am researching my 4xgrandfather, James Clinton. He is documented as Rev.
War Vet from York Dist., SC wife Ann Armstrong. They moved to Crittenden
Co., KY where their daughter Francis (Fanny) married Israel Cannon and became
my 3x grandparents.
We know from War Pension files that he was born in Chester Co., PA 11 Aug
1761. We have been unable to match him to his father, assumed to be James,
son of Archibald Clinton.
James died 02 Mar 1847 bur. Piney Fork Cemetery, Crittenden Co., KY
Any info greatly appreciated!! Janice (Cannon)

Thanks for the info..however, I use the 1880 data at the Sevier County Library site and have already scoured through it (several times!). The William Clinton I am researching is in Sevier County in 1860, disappears in 1870, then returns in 1880. Since 1870 is not searchable online at this time I have not been able to find him. I am working from overseas and I currently just use online data. I think the answers to a lot of my questions will come in time as more and more data goes online and becomes searchable.
Thanks for putting the 1880 data out there. So far my family seems to be in Sevier in 1880 but it might be useful at some point, especially if I ever find out where my Clinton's came from prior to living in Sevier County.
