chris 8/28/1853. Father Thomas C Clinton Mother Ann Nugent . Thomas b abt 1806 Ann Nugent b abt 1816. Ireland. Children of Thomas and Ann; James A 1839, Mary 1848, Dewitt Henry 7/13/1849 Catharine E 8/28/1853.
I am descended from Parrick Clinton b abt 1790. However, we are related to Dewitt Clinton of Troy. He was Troy librarian and specialized in rare books. He wrote his recollections of our family history and stated in a letter to my grandfather that the family was related to the governors family back in Ireland.
He also mentioned two uncles James Clinton and Henry Clinton and his grand father John Clinton who was described as a man of wealth and power in Dublin but lost both in some sourt of anti goverment activity. Another related Clinton family in Troy -Henry Clinton and Julia Connolly Clinton' first son was George Clinton who died as an infant
He also gave my grandfather a portion of a book printed in the 1700's giving the genealogy of the Clintons from about 1750 back to Pre 1066 when they had the surname of Tancred. The Chapter was titled Clinton Earl of Lincoln.

My great great great grandfather's name was Tom Clinton. I am told that my great great grandmother Martha (Clinton) Barker was born in Paducah, Kentucky before the Clintons later moved to the area around Sumner, County Tennessee. If you have any information, please contact me.
Thanks,
Mark Allgood
