To anyone related to George Clinton, first gov. of NY and VP of the US, I would be interested in corresponding with you and learning more about current descendants.
Briefly, I am descended (through my mother) from his daughter, Cornelia, who married "Citizen" Edmond Genet.
Would love to learn more about anyone who can trace their roots to George. Also, any info on George's ancestors would be nice.
Thanks in advance.

I am looking for information on the family of John and Elizabeth (BEECHER)
CLINTON.
John CLINTON b.1721 in New Haven, New Haven Co., CT; d. 1785 Ballston Spa,
Saratoga Co., NY married November 1746 to Elizabeth BEECHER b.ca1729 in New
Haven, CT d.1792 (?Ballston Spa)
They had at least two children:
John CLINTON, Jr. who mar. Mary Scribner
Sarah CLINTON who mar. John HIGBY, Jr.
John and Elizabeth (BEECHER) CLINTON moved to Ballston Spa, NY prior to
1776. I am interested in knowing who Elizabeth's parents were, and where
John and Elizabeth are buried. I will happily share/swap data on the family
that I have.
Thank-you for any help you re able to offer!

Greetings,
I have a copy of The Clinton Lineage and Related Families by Howard C. Clinton.
This book was printed privately in 1974 by Howard.
The manuscript attempts to take the Clinton Lineage from Adam and Eve down to
Sir Henry and Eleanor Clinton, the common ancestors of most Clintons in America.
It then traces the descendants of Sir Henry and Eleanor. This manuscript also
includes other lineages of Clintons in America besides that of Sir Henry and
Eleanor. It seems to be an extremely all encompassing book on the Clinton
lineage.
I presently have it on Ebay for sale (one day left) as I have no relative within
the book. If it fails to sell interested readers of this group may contact me
off list...
Best Wishes,
Dennis
When I went to the Library of Congress to do some research, I found this handtyped
manuscript by Guy Clinton entitled "the Clintons Appearing in Early American
Records" 1936. I copied the following information. " . . . the coming of Charles
Clinton (1690-1773) on the "George and Ann" which sailed from Dublin for
Philadelphia May 29, 1729. He came from Corbey, Langford Co. Ireland. His father
had received a grant of land from Queen Ann. He paid the passage on
the ship of ninety of the emigrants. After a stormy voyage of 135 days on which
many of the
passengers died of hunger or sickness, one son and one daughter of Clinton died,
he finally
bargained with the piratical Captain for a landing at Cape Cod. Two years later
he removed to
Little Britain, NY; he soon became a leader in his community and an active servant
of the
Colony. He became surveyor of the Colony; while resurveying the Livingston tract,
he spent the
night with Cornelius Knickerbocker, the famous character in Washington Irving's
book. This
Charles Clinton becamse the ancestor of three famous Americans: General James
Clinton, a
major general of the American Revolution, George Clinton, Vice President of the
United States
under Jefferson and Madison and Governor of the NY during and after the
Revolution, and
DeWitt Clinton who served successively as Major of NY City, United States Senator,
and
Governor of NY, he also built the Erie Canal; he was also a candidate for
President against John
Quincy Adams."
Then later in this manuscript he discusses "Scharf's History of Western Maryland",
we find that
Charles Clinton became head of a committee (1775) for Cumberland Hundred (then in
Frederick
County) to raise funds to buy arms and amunition which were required by the
Maryland Council
of Safety. In Forces's American Archives, we find that the Council of Safety
commissioned him
Captain of Militia July 27, 1776. In Penn Archives 6th S. Vol. 5 pages 310 qnd
320 we find that
he had become Captain of the Eighth Company of Fayette County (PA) Militia
1791-1792. He
bought several tracts of land in Fayette County in 1784-1792, and in the deeds he
gave
Washington County MD as his residence. This fact identifies him as the same man
referred to in
the records just cited."
