Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Ok,
I guess it was my bright idea. So..........I've started a home page to
collect the various information and try to put it into some kind or order
based on what I've seen in other pages. I am not sophisticated enough to set
up a database, but by weaving the tidbits together, maybe we can begin to
develop a bigger picture.
Send me what you would like included and I'll add it as I can and publish the
address for everyone to access it.
Please note that this activity will be in addition to working, a family and
going to graduate school, so please be patient with the additions.
As I add stuff, I'll post an update notice on the list.

Maybe someone should start a time-line related d-base with all the unattached
Clintons. Re Texas: James C(Clinton) DeWitt, empresario of the DeWitt
Colony...among early settlers of DeWitt Colony, William Clinton.
Can anyone identify the William Clinton age 80 Rev. War participant 1840
census of Campbell Co., GA? He was living alone.
Maybe if we started to identify anyone we come across, we can eventually
piece them all together??

I think this is a great idea starting a webpage for collection Clinton
information. I have lots of tidbits that I could add. For starters, I would like
to include the Clintons that I'm looking for. They are Clarence Clinton, father
to Thomas Clinton died 1856 in Cumberland, Maryland. Thomas was married to
Catherine Mitchell. They had a son, William Clinton born 8 October 1794, in
Cumberland, Maryland. He married Sarah Parker, Margaret Garney and Mary Ainsworth
Gutheridge. He and Sarah had children: Thomas, Mary Jane and Elizabeth. He and
Margaret had a daughter (my ancestor), Margaret Ann born 6 December 1826. He and
his daughter, Margaret Ann, moved to Cable, Champaign County, Ohio. I've got
more info on unrelated families that I'll be glad to share. Jane

Well, if Mary was a Clinton, she must have been married to a Hollomon. I
found a marriage record in Ancestry.com for:
Starling Sims. m. Mary Hollomon on 18 May 1820 in Hopkins Co. KY.
There was also a Starling Sims listed in the 1810 census for Knox Co. KY on
pg 88 with the following count (could be wrong since both parts are
identical) 12020-21010-00. This could be another Starling Sims tho - there
were a number of them listed in that online family files that are
downloadable.
Joanne
Elizabeth Clinton married Robert J. Gully in Hopkins Co. KY on May 15, 1811.
In August 1827, Ezekiel Clinton and Elizabeth Gully were both witnesses to
the will of Starling Sims. Following is the text of the extract in case any
of you can spot something of importance:
FROM WILL BOOK NO. 2:
STARLING SIMS, Dec'd. Will. Ex. John Matthews. To w. Mary Sims, farm and
negro man, Luke. After death of w., land to be divided between s. John &
Larkin. Negro, Luke, to be freed from slavery. To da Nancy Ann & Ellizabeth
Ellender, one bed and furniture, one cow, & one calf each. Remains of
personal estate after death of w., to be given to four children above named.
May 29, 1827. Witt.: James Edminston, Ezekiel Clinton, Elizabeth Gully,
Zachariah Matthews. Aug 1827. P 281-283
Any comments??? Anybody think Ezekiel Clinton and Elizabeh Clinton Gully
might have been siblings??

The Genealogy Pages -

Use the Surname Index to look at all the surnames in the files... too many
to post!!!
I have found a better way to handle the database, and hope the results are
far more effective. After uploading nearly 6000 files that make up the
Surname Index portion of the site, each individual now has their own page
with links to all children, parents, and grandparents. There is a 4
generation display on each page, and several with pictures.
I will be adding to this. Also, the Images index has had a facelift. I am
adding a thumbnails page, but that is under construction still.
The Medieval Page is up, under links when you scroll down the main page,
or directly
here:http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~geneal/medieval_links.html#top
Still looking for more links... so please let me know if you come accross
something interesting.
We've had a "boom" in Tannehill researchers of late, so there are sevear
additional researchers listed on the Tannehill SRC page... anyone looking
for connections should stop by to see the new researchers.
Please feel free to let me know what you think of the site... I have a
form for comments, or email me directly. I appreciate all of the input
that allows me to create better site features.
The search engine is being updated as well, so in a day or so, when the
crawl is finished, we will be up to speed.
Warm regards...
Christine

Hi Y'all
Everyone seems to be in agreement - more or less - that the children of James
Clinton, son of Archibald were: (and as the list keeps being written):
James Jr., born about 1857, had land grants in Livingston and Harlan Co. KY
Daniel, born about 1759, had a land grant in Crittenden Co. KY
Ezekiel, born about 1762, had a land grant in Hopkins Co KY
Archibald, born about 1864, had a land grant in Todd Co. KY
Samuel, born about 1775, had a land grant in Logan Co KY
Question: Does anyone have any proof that these men were James's sons?? If
so, what proof is there?? I keep seeing this same list passed around, but
no one says anything about where the info came from, and I have wondered if
this is a case of someone deciding that this must be correct and then the
rest of us keep passing it around a tho it is really fact.
I also see a gap of 11 years between Archibald and Samuel. Does anyone know
if daughters were born during these years, or if sons were born and died??
Or maybe sons who survived, but didn't get land grants in KY? That's room for
5 more kids.
Please comment, if you would. Help Help!!
