Its early and my fingers aren't awake yet.
The entry is for John Clinton - not John Cliton, and further down in my note
the date that John owned the land in Davidson Co. was 1793.

Could this last one perhaps be one of the land warrents issued in TN for
people from NC?? If so this could be part of the land that John Clinton had
in Davidson Co. TN in 17983. Does anyone know how I can go about finding
out??
Thanks.

All dwellings in each census district were given a number. Each family was

Hi
When Ezekiel Clinton died, Isham Wiatt (Wyatt) was the administrator of his
(Ezek's) estate. This was in Hopkins Co. KY. I always thought that Isham
must have been Elizabeth Wiatt Clinton's brother.
Joanne
I am searching for the parents of JOHN CLINTON who was born in Pennsylvania
in 1812. I do not know where, but believe his father was a Presbyterian
minister.
He married a woman named Brigit. They moved to St. Louis in the 1840's.
Their children were Joseph, Esther , Margaret, Caroline, John, James,
Augustus and Kate.
Does anybody recognize this family?
Gerry
There has been a recent query/discussion regarding an Ezekiel Clinton b ca
1790 who married Elizabeth Wyatt in 1822 Hopkins Co, KY and a Zachariah
Clinton who married Sarah Hanks, same county, circa 1821. Regarding
Elizabeth Wyatt: She may connnect somehow to the families of Joseph and
Isaac Wyatt, sons of Zachariah (Sacker) Wyatt and Elizabeth Ripley Wyatt of
Perquimans Co, NC.
Also, in this period, I find a Stephen Clinton, who was among five
"exhorters" licensed by Cumberland Presbytery (KY) in 1804. The other four
men were William McClure, Samuel Blythe, William Moore, and Samuel Donnell.

To the list,
This may be a long shot, but I believe that CLINTON may have been a
maiden name for my gggrandfather's mother.
Clinton TUCKER b. 1789 NC. He named a son Clinton Monroe W. TUCKER. and
my grandmother' name was Hibernia Clinton TUCKER.
The 1789 Clinton had a relative named George TUCKER. He is listed as
bondsman for his wedding in Tryon Co NC. Possibly a brother, father, or
uncle.
Does anyone on this list know of any relationships between TUCKERS and
CLINTONS?
Any response will be appreciated.

Co Tn in 1837 died there 1-11-1905. Calvin had three wives

Greetings
One more and I'll give y'all a rest. BG
EZEKIEL CLINTON was born between 1790-1800 and died before Jan 7, 1840
probably in Hopkins Co. KY. He was married to Elizabeth Wiatt on 1 January
1822 in Hopkins Co.
Ezekiel's children were:
1. Unknown Clinton b 1815-1820
2. John C. Clinton b. 1823 m. Martha Wheatley Oct 11, 1849
3. Martin Clinton b. 1825 m Louisa Caldwell May 14, 1848
4. Victor W. Clinton b. 1827 Hopkins Co. d May 8, 1852 Lyon Co. KY
5 Thomas G. Clinton b. 1833 (1831?)
My problem with Ezekiel is that there was another Ezekiel Clinton b. 1762 and
how supposedly got land grants in Hopkins Co KY for his service in the Rev.
War. I know that Ezek. b. 1790-1800 go a land grant in Arkansas for his
service in the War of 1812.
Were these Ezekiel Sr. and Jr.????
Another item about this Ezekiel b. 1790-1800 is that Green Derrington who was
married to Mary Matilda Hanks also got a land grant in AR for his service in
the War of 1812. They got their land grants on the same day and in the same
county, and I believe in neighboring townships. Green's wife Mary Matilda
was the dau of John Hanks Jr. and Charity and she was also the sister of
Sarah Hanks who was married to my Zachariah Clinton.
I am "playing like" my Zachariah and this younger Ezekiel could have been
brothers since both of them were in Hopkins Co. KY at the exact same time.
Both men got married within two months of each other, and both couples were
married by the same minister, the Rev. Thomas Hanks. And then both couples
named their first sons "John".
Any comments and or corrections, additions, etc., very welcome.
Joanne
ZACHARIAH CLINTON was born in SC ca 1795. The first good record I have on
him is Nov 18, 1821 when he married Sarah Hanks in Hopkins Co. KY.
Zach and Sarah had three children born in KY:
John B. b. Nov 19, 1822 in KY - prob. in Hopkins Co.
Henry b. 1825 prob. in Calloway Co KY
Nancy b. Jan 16, 1826 prob. in Calloway Co. KY
The family was in Calloway Co. KY from about 1825 thru 1829, at which time
they went to Perry Co IL. They were in Perry at the time of the 1830 census.
The family then moved to Jackson Co. IL in time for the 1840 census.
Children born in IL were:
Rebecca b. Jan 27, 1833 in DuQuoin, Perry Co. IL
Martha b. 1838 in IL
I have fairly good records on this family from Zach and Sarah to the present
and will be happy to share. Have found living descendants for all of the
children with the exception of Martha who married John W. Boone and moved to
Sullivan Co. IN.
SAMUEL CLINTON bought land in Jackson Co. IL in the mid 1850's. I have
looked at the deeds, and they name his wife as Matilda, but the deeds do not
say where they came from. They are not listed in the 1850 or 60 census books
for Jackson Co. IL.
I am trying to find out if SAMUEL was related to my ggg gf ZACHARIAH CLINTON.
Does anyone on the list have info about Samuel??
Joanne
On 3 July 1808, Thomas CLINTON sold to James H. Russell 74 acres for $24. the
land was on Hickman Creek on the south side of the Cumberland River in
Stewart Co. TN.
Thomas Clinton died ca 1811 and his wife Elizabeth was the administrator of
his estate. She gave power of attorney to James H Russell. Witnesses wer Wm.
Hadley and Henry Pugh.
Thomas was from Anson Co. NC and went to Stewart Co. around 1800, where he
was one of the founding fathers of Stewart Co. He was also a trustee at a
school in Dover.
Thomas was connected to Richard Clinton of Sampson Co NC.
Does anyone have anyinformation on children of Thomas and Elizabeth or
perhaps Thomas and a first wife??
Thanks
Joanne
