I'm trying to find some information on the ancestry of my gggg grandmother
JANE CLINGAN. It's been difficult to find info. on these people and I'd
love to hear from anyone who might know who they are.
My gggg grandmother was JANE CLINGAN. She lived in Miami Co., OH. Married
to John PERSONETT 21 June 1833 in Miami Co. This is where I run into
trouble. John PERSONETT died intestate early in 1837. I've found a bit
concerning his estate. JANE (CLINGAN) PERSONETT died on the 6 June 1837, a
few months after her husband. From what I found in Jane's estate papers I
can say that John and JANE (CLINGAN) PERSONETT had two daughters, LAVINA, b
3 Aug 1834 (my ggg grandmother) and SARAH who d. 10 June 1837. JANE
CLINGAN's mother was RUTH CLINGAN. Nothing is said to make clear who
Jane's father is. Lavina was 3 at the time and guardianship was granted to
JAMES CLINGAN w/ JOHN CLINGAN as a witness. WILLIAM CLINGAN and NANCY
CLINGAN were among the people buying items from the estate of JANE CLINGAN
PERSONETT. After all this happened LAVINA PERSONETT dropped out of site
until thirteen years later, 1850, when I find her living with her paternal
grandparents, Joseph and Susanna (Beverlin) Personett in Wayne Co.
IN. Does anyone know of this Clingan family? Jane Clingan's
ancestry? This has been driving me nuts. I'm planning on going to Miami
Co. personally this spring but thought I'd give it a shot to see if anyone
on the list knows these people. Thanks... Sherri Slater
Okay, my New Year took an unexpected turn, and I just got back to my email, -- I will get this off very soon. Take care all and Happy
