Looking for info on this Cline line:
Clines who migrated from the Shenandoah VA to Guernsey County OH in the early 1800's...about 1812.
Who may have come from Loudon Co., VA.
John Cline who married Catherine Schwartz/Black.

My great grandfather was Daniel Cline born 1804 in Maryland. He moved to Rankin County, Mississippi around 1830. His children's names were David, Mary, John, Abraham, and Rebecca. Any info would be appreciated.
I did find a David Cline in Maryland, wondering if anyone had info on that family.
Thanks, Debbie

Francine,
There are 2 Cline groups in OH. Mine, descended from John Cline of VA is mostly in Noble and Guernsey, although William Cline (grandson of John) lived in Belmont and served in the Civil War. My John did not serve in the Revolutionary War.
The other Cline group is descended from Hans George Cline of PA who served in the Revolutionary War. HARLEY Dakin is a descendant and has an active Cline group. These are the Clines who settled in old Washington Co. and lived mostly in Monroe Co.
The 2 may be related. If you want me to put you in touch with HARLEY, just send me an email at ludicy(a)bellsouth.net
There is another group of Clines who settled in the Tug River area who are not related to the above Cline families.
Yet another, also descended from a John Cline who served in the Revolutionary War and who lived in VA, ended up in Indiana. I suspect these Clines are related to mine (both lived in Tom's Brook VA) but I have no proof as of yet. HARLEY is always seeking males Clines for his Y DNA project to try and sort out these families.

Francine,
My Grandmother was Cathrine Marie Cline and she was born 1893 in Wellsburg,
WV. Her father was Daniel Webster Cline born1854 in Wheeling, WV. Daniel
was part of the glass industry in West Virginia and Ohio before moving his
family to Evansville, IN. around 1900. I think his father was George Cline
born 1826 possible in West Virginia as well. But never could get back any
further. I am not sure if they were part of the Cline groups in Ohio. Any
thoughts?

I've "rescued" an old photograph of Grandmother CLINE and Ann BAIN which was
taken at the J. W. Montee Studio in McMinnville, OR. The photograph appears
to have been taken in the 1890's with the two women likely in their 50's to
70's at the time the photograph was taken. I believe that this is likely a
photograph of Mary WILSON CLINE and her daughter Ann CLINE BAIN. Based on
limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding
this family:
Mary WILSON was b. 5 Feb 1816 or 1817 in Fountain Co. IN to parents John
WILSON (1785-1845) and Mary CONN (1790-1867). Mary was one of 10 children
born to this couple including, Sala "Sally" Myra; Samuel; John J.; Mary;
James M.; William C.; Hannah; Charloty; George W.; and Thomas J. WILSON, all
born between 1810 and 1829. Mary married Jacob B. CLINE (b. 1812 in
Kentucky-d. 23 Dec 1888 in San Bernardino, CA- son of Philip CLINE and Mary
POLLY) on 28 Dec 1836 in Rock Island Co. IL and together they had 11
children including, John W.; Mary Prudentia; Isabelle or Isabella "Belle"
Logie; Mary Jane; Elizabeth Jane; George; Caroline; Jacob; Antha Anthey;
Jacob; and Ann Elizabeth CLINE all born between 1836 and 1855.
The family left Iowa for Oregon in March 1844 and arrived in Oregon on 20
Dec 1844. Jacob was married three times including once after he and Mary
divorced in 1862, and three more children were born including, George; Ella
Dora; and Charles CLINE between 1865 and 1871. Mary died 22 Jan 1910 in
Portland, OR.
Her daughter Anna Elizabeth CLINE was b. 16 Dec 1840 in Davenport, IA and
married Charles H. BAIN (b. 1839) on Portland, OR on 5 Sept 1861 and
together they had 4 children including, John A.; Charles E.; Mary D.; and
Laura A. BAIN all born between 1864 and 1870. Anna married a second time to
John HARRIS and she died in Portland, OR on 15 Sept 1931.
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be
returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or you
know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
