I'm seeking information on the taxidermy collection of John A. Cline, who
came to Los Angeles (via Maryland, Australia, Indiana) and died there ca
1896. His three sons John C., William H. and George T. maintained the
stuffed bird collection until some time before 1960, when it was acquired by
the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History. The collection was quite
famous in its day, and the Clines even build a museum onto their Los Angeles
mansion to house the birds. However, there seem to be few details on how big
the collection was, or what was included. If anyone is connected with this
family, and knows anything about John Cline's taxidermy, I'd enjoy hearing
from you.
