Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I just thought I'd bring this to the attention of the list in case anyone is interested in joining this family web site on MyFamily.com. You need to be related (it is part of a Y DNA surname study) or strongly suspect you are related to Pieter Klein. To contact the administrator for an invitation, e-mail Harley Dakin at
hpdakin(a)myfamily.com
You will need to be able to detail your relationship or suspected relationship to this particular line.
Although the Kleins arrived from Alsace while it was under the control of France, this was a German speaking family - I have a Cline family German Bible that belonged to David Cline, John Cline's son.
This Cline family arrived in PA around 1749 (I think) and then disbursed - George Cline moved to Ohio (most of his descendants are in Monroe County) after living in PA for some time. 2 of his brothers went to NC. The DNA study proved that the OH and NC Clines are related. I am descended from John Cline of Loudon County, VA who moved to Noble County, OH. We have long suspected, but still have not proven, that George and John were related. I'm still looking for a male Cline descendant of John who would be interested in participating in the DNA study.
The following information if from the web site administrator:
Our Cline ancestoral linkage provided by George Cline Los Altos,CA is as follows:
1) Pieter Klein (b ca 1575 and d 2 Aug 1635 in Stiensall, Alsace region, Germany)
has a son Nicholas
2) Nicholas Klein (b prior to 1609) mar Magdalena (widow of Briden Lentz) 9 Sep 1640 and has a son Sebastian
3) Sebastian Klein (b 15 Sep 1644) mar Anna Catharina Schmidt 9 Apr 1665. Among
their children are the 2 sons below
4) Nicholas Klein (b 29 Oct 1676, d 2 Jul 1747)- grandfather of Hans George Cline of
Monroe Co. OH Moritz Klein (b 18 Jul 1684)- ancestor of George Cline of Los Altos CA and many NC Clines.
SURNAME NEED NOT BE CLINE, only a decadency connection. This site is supplemented by at least 3 other Cline sites descendent web sites including, The Alexander Cline website, Thompson/Cline web site and the Gayle Cline website.
The purpose of the Descendants of Pieter Klein of Alsace Lorraine web site is to promote the exchange of information on the family and their descendents. It is not intended to focus only on the surname Cline but rather to include descendents of the family, regardless of the surname.
No, my Clines relatives came from NY or NJ to PA to OH, IN, and MI. I wish I
could find my branch of Clines.
Good luck with yours. Were your Clines Irish?

Hi Gayle,
Thank you for your interest and reply. The majority of the family came from
Tennessee with a few living in Alabama and Georgia.
Bradley County, Tennessee is what I have listed for them.
Are you maybe related ?
Best Regards,
Kathy James

Do you know if any of the Cline's were in Richland Co., OH?
I also have Cline's in Warren Co., IL, and Fayette Co., IA.
This was between 1800 and 1860 or so.

This is a long shot but I am descended from William Cline b. 8-7-1802. Married Charlotte Hargus in Pickaway Co. OH in 1828.

Hello
I have written before but now i wonder if anyone has roots in Sumner Co, TN? The 4 brothers are still a mystery to me. John C, William C, George Washington and Samuel. Does any one know how to find the records that would show children being bound out ?
Thanks Darlene
